Where To Stay in Hachimantai
There are plenty of places to base yourself for a Hachimantai ski holiday. Where you stay may ultimately be determined by your priorities and whether you wish to rent a vehicle and drive yourself around or utilise available shuttle transport.
Appi
If you are wanting to stay in a ski-in/ski-out hotel where access to the slopes each day is very convenient, then Appi is the best place to base yourself for a Hachimantai ski holiday. The resort offers several ski-in/ski-out hotel options including the 5-star
ANA Intercontinental Hotel or if you are looking for a more economically oriented trip, the nearby pension village offers a variety of options. From Appi you can do day trips to Panorama and Shimokura, however you will need your own transport as there are currently no bus services available.

Hachimantai Panorama
The Hachimantai Mountain Hotel is located at the base of the Panorama ski resort making it the most obvious choice if you are looking to ski at Panorama Resort. There are also several other properties in the Hachimantai area that offer great value, particularly if you are on a budget.

Morioka City
If you are looking to chase powder at the Hachimantai ski resorts as well as other resorts in the area such as
Shizukuishi,
Amihari Onsen,
Iwate Kogen,
Okunakayama Resort,
Geto Kogen &
Tazawako, and you want a good variety of restaurants and bars, Morioka City is the ideal place to base yourself. To get to all of these resorts you will need a car if you are not on a guided tour, as there are no regular public transport services to these resorts.
