Savin Kuk - Žabljak Ski Resort Montenegro
Savin Kuk ski resort in Montenegro may not look like much at first glance, but look deeper and you will see a whole lot of potential for powder-seeking freeriders willing to go that little bit further. And its appeal grows when one considers its location within the renowned Durmitor National Park near the town Žabljak.
Despite having the highest lifted ski terrain in Montenegro (to around 2,212m), Savin Kuk seems not the most inspiring ski area. Just 5km of piste trails, beginner tows down low and a longest run of 3km point to very little diversity. However, on closer inspection, the slow old double chairlifts access some fine looking off-piste terrain on a north to east aspect with 700m of vertical. And options to skin higher to the 2,313m summit of Savin Kuk & beyond to the highest mountain in the region, the 2,523m high Bobotov Kuk, would be more than tempting on a powder day!

Where to Stay
From Montenegro's capital of Podgorica, Savin Kuk is approximately 2½hr drive to the north. Nearby Zabljak is a well-established tourist town (due to its proximity to the Durmitor National Park) with plenty of good accommodation options just 5km from the ski area base. A few apartmetns & 'chalets' are available for holiday rental at the base of the ski area too.
