Orcieres - Merlette 1850 Ski Resort France
Orcières ski resort is yet another of the multitude of southern French Alps ski resorts that fly under the international radar. As with many of these southern Alps resorts, the stats are impressive - high-altitude base of 1,850m, nice skiable vertical of 875m, 100km of pistes with a longest run over 6km, highest lifted point of 2,725m and 26 lifts that cost less than €50/day/adult to ride. All sounds very sexy! Orcieres - Merlette 1850’s greatest downfall may be its sunny, south-aspect, but for too many visitors that will be a point of attraction. Horse for courses we suppose. Giddy up….

Where is Orcieres France?
The Orcieres ski resort is in the Hautes Alpes in southeastern France 40km by road from the town of Gap. It is 220km north of Marseille and around 227km southeast of Lyon. Nearest airports are Lyon (LYS), Grenoble (GNB) and Marseille (MRS).

The accommodations available at Orcières is in the resort village of Orcières Merlette 1850 (unsurprisingly at an altitude of 1,850m),or in the original village of Orcières down in the valley below the ski area at a not insubstantial 1,400m altitude.
