Brandnertal Ski Resort Austria
Brandnertal is a traditional ski resort above the Austrian city of Bludenz in the snowy Vorarlberg state. Modern (well mostly anyway!) ski lifts serve about 60km of pistes & ski routes, plus link the base villages of Brand & Bürserberg. Typical of the better ski areas in the Alps, Brandnertal has a host alternative winter activities available as well, including masses of winter walking trails, snowshoeing trails, cross-country skiing, sledding trails, ski-touring routes, panoramic viewpoints and even a sledding ski safari route (a.k.a. Rodelsafari-Strecke). A rodelsafari is a first for us and definitely a reason to visit!
Skiing & Snowboarding, Lifts & Terrain
The 60km of ski trails & routes at Brandnertal is best suited to intermediate snow-sliders. Whilst novices & beginners have a few long options; none reach the valley so you will have to grit your teeth for a more challenging end to the day to avoid the dignity of downloading! Advanced riders will find the most joy off-piste & along the marked ski routes. Total skiable vertical in the resort is about 1,000m, with a highest lifted point of a relatively low 2,000m altitude on Glattjoch (where one will find the best skiing & snowboarding). The longest on-piste run is over 5km of leg burning off Glattjoch all the down to the Palud base.
New for season 25/26 is a 10-person gondola, the Loischkopfbahn, in the Bürserberg sector. It replaces both an ancient double chair & a newer quad to provide an uninterrupted 700m of vertical. The oldest chairlift in the resort, the important double chair from Burserberg, is due to be replaced soon by the Bürserbergbahn, another 10-person gondola.
Before you (or us) visit, start salivating over the ski trail map below.
