Poiana Brașov Ski Resort Romania
Poiana Brasov is a popular ski resort in the central Carpathian Mountains of Romania rising above the village of the same name. Just 15km from the historic Transylvanian city of Brașov, 140km north of the capital Bucharest and less than 30min drive from Dracula's Castle (a.k.a. Bran Castle), the ski lifts & trails extend up to Postăvaru peak providing expansive views despite its modest height. Whilst small by world standards, for Romania Poiana Brasov is amongst the top 3 largest ski areas. The highest lifted point is around 1,775m, providing a skiable vertical of nearly 750m for the 15km (ish) of pistes.
We are not sure if Poiana Brasov is worth a specific trip just for skiing, if a combined comfy spa hotel stay & exploration of Transylvanian is on your bingo card list, it would be churlish of you not to add in skiing here as well.

Poiana Brasov Accommodation
Poiana Brașov village has multiple 5-star & 4-star luxury resort hotels. Whilst some of them may not be to everyone’s tastes (with respect to the gaudy, over-the-top décor), the standout choice is probably the exceptional Teleferic Grand Hotel. Surely though ‘when in Rome’, shouldn’t one stay at the (only slightly) kitsch Acasă la Dracula (House of Dracula) Hotel? We will be!
