Nord Freeride Cat Skiing
Nord Freeride is possibly the world's newest cat ski operation. Starting in season 22/23, Nord Freeride has been scoping vast terrain above its 2 mountain lodges in the Shar Mountains of Kosovo. For more info on where Nord Freeride is, see the Location tab.
Runs are between up to 11km long, but more often up to 7km in length. The longest skiable vertical descent is 1,020m, with most in the realms of 500 to 700m vertical. Seven runs per day will be the initial standard for a total vertical of 4,000 to 5,000m/day! The terrain includes the highest mountain in Kosovo, hard up on the border with North Macedonia, the 2,660m Velika Rudoka.
The accommodation used includes two recently built lodge in southwest Kosovo. Skarpa Lodge is the main accommodation and includes its own nearby T-bar ski lift! Located near the village of Zaplluxhe it has all-weather access & is a quick drive from the airport. A second option is further south, Rudoka Lodge, located at 1,560m is near the village of Restelicë. Each lodge has cosy hotel style rooms, plus Skarpa Lodge has several chalet/villa options. Naturally, all accommodation is included in the tariff (except the Skarpa Lodge villas), with full board (breakfast, lunch & dinner), plus return transfers between the lodges & airport. The food & drink is based on local, organic ingredients.
