Vogel Ski Resort Slovenia
Vogel ski resort is the best known, but only the third largest in Slovenia, and comes with the highest skiable vertical in the country - a hefty 1,230m. The longest run from top to bottom is a leguifying (sic) 7½km long.
Located in the spectacular mountains of the Triglav National Park, Vogel ski resort overlooks both Lake Bohinj and the 2,864m summit of Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak. The tourist hotspot of Bled & its eponymous lake are just 30km away, making a ski trip to Vogel an easy part of a broader tourist visit to the region.
The 22km of beginner & intermediate piste trails might not seem much, but the surroundings likely make it more than worthwhile. Sometimes the ski trip is not just about the skiing!

Vogel Accommodation
The accommodations available in Vogel include near the base of the ski lifts at the western end of Lake Bohinj (Bohinjsko Jezero) in a pleasant, forested locality referred to as Ukanc. At the opposite, eastern end of the lake, 5km away, the settlement of Ribcev Laz or in the nearby town of Bohinj, have a wider variety of possibilities. Further along, the popular town of Bled is also an obvious choice.
Near the ski lift base at Ukanc, whilst there are numerous options, the availability might be best at Apartments Lake Bohinj, TUBA Apartments, or Apartments Ukanc.

At the eastern end of Lake Bohinj, about 5km from the ski lift base, Ribcev Laz has a choice selection of lodging options, plus a multitude of others further away from the lake toward the town of Bohinj. The best of them is the lakeside Hotel Jezero. Just 200m from the lake Hotel Bohinj. In a quiet rural setting nearby, Pension Cerkovnik provides great value for money.
Bled is the most popular tourist town in Slovenia, and given its relatively close proximity to Vogel, a natural choice for anyone staying in the region. Located at the base of Julian Alps and on the small lake of the same name, Bled has an attractive old town centre, and a host of excellent accommodation options. Vogel is just 35min drive from the centre of the town. Overlooked by the oldest castle in Slovenia, the 11th century Bled Castle (Blejski grad), Bled is perhaps best known for the much-photographed island in the centre of the lake topped by the prominent Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church. Apparently, it is good luck to visit and ring the bell!
The most lux place to stay in Bled is the lakeside 5-star Grand Hotel Toplice. Just out of town further along the quiet lakeside, perhaps an even better option is the 4-star Adora Luxury Hotel. Also on the lakeside, a kilometre out of town, the Hotel Starkl provides an elegant alternative.
In the centre of the often bustling town, an interesting option is the charming Old Bled House. High-quality pensions provide excellent lodgings too, like the spotless Penzion Kaps.
