Isola 2000 Ski Resort France
Why have we not skied Isola 2000? Not sure, but it looks the goods if you can time it right for fresh snow. All terrain over 1,800m altitude is a great start for any ski area, but probably necessary this far south. Nice and the Med are less than 90km away to the south! The 20 lifts, multi-aspect terrain, huge 120km of trails on 800m of skiable vertical certainly looks promising. Whilst much the piste trails are beginner rated, when they range in length from 5 to 8km they are nothing to be sneezed at!
Before we get there to see it for ourselves, check out the Isola 2000 Ski Trail Map below.
Where is Isola 2000 France?
The Isola 2000 ski resort in the southern French Alps (Alpes-Maritimes) right on the Italian border. Away from the resort, the nearest village is Isola, 16km (23min drive) by road west of the ski area. The nearest major city is Nice which is 90km (1½ to 2hr drive) south on the Mediterranean Sea coast. Access to Isola by road is via the important town of Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée.
Isola 2000 Accommodation
The village of Isola 2000 is purpose-built resort-style with ski-in ski-out multi-storey buildings, loads of apartments and a few hotels. Places to stay include two with great reputations for wonderful food inclusions - SOWELL HOTELS Le Pas du Loup and SOWELL RESIDENCES New Chastillon. Other options include beautiful hotel rooms at the 4-star Chalet Marano Restaurant & Spa or the more affordable Hotel Le Druos. For large, fully self-contained apartments, look at MMV Residence Les Terrasses d'Isola. For smaller apartments, try the more affordable Résidence Capfun Les Adrets

Down the valley the tiny village of Isola holds a few good value options for overnight accommodation, but not much! Isola is over 20min drive from the Isola 2000 resort village. A free ski bus connects them with generally just 5 return journeys per day made from Isola -> Isola 2000 -> Isola 2000 Les Hameaux. Unfortunately the shuttle only runs on weekends & school holidays so is generally useless for any self-resecting powder hound.
Hotel Le touring is the place to stay but furniture in the newly renovated rooms is limited for longer stays. Alternatively, ask for a top storey room if staying at the traditional Auberge Familiale Le Foehn.
