Pays du St Bernard Ski Region Switzerland

The Pays du St Bernard ski region (a.k.a. The Land of St Bernard) in a deep dark corner of the Swiss Valais, combines the secret stashes of La Fouly, Champex-Lac & Vichères-Liddes under one lift pass. The three petite ski resorts offer any tight-arsed, larch tree-glade loving powder hound the opportunity to pillage delicious snow within sniffing distance of all the high-flyers at nearby Verbier. Whilst not huge, each ski area has 600 to 800m of skiable vertical and at least one chairlift, plus there are ski trails for all abilities, and the lift pass is amongst the cheapest as one will find in this nation of wealth.

Before we get there this season & ski it out for ourselves, check out the Pays du St Bernard Ski Trail Map below.

Taking the train here is easy from Geneva (GVA) airport to Orsières via Martigny (around 2½hr), then going further on the bus. The route 271 bus heads to Champex, the 272 to La Fouly and if you are heading to Liddes, take the route 210 bus ..... simples! Having a rental car makes moving around easy too!

Pays du St Bernard Accommodation

The accommodations available to ski Pays du St Bernard are in various locations near each ski area or in nearby villages. Most of the available hotels are of a more traditional Swiss Valais/French mountain style. If you had to pick the best central village to stay in, Orsières is the obvious choice. At the end of the train line and with bus and road links to all the ski areas, Orsières also has one of the best restaurants in the region at the fantastic Hôtel Terminus. We have stayed here with a group and found it perfect for exploring not only the Pays du St Bernard, but also the 4 Vallees sectors of Bruson & Verbier.

Search & book a place to stay via the Orsières Ski Accommodation Listings.

Ski Rentals

Ski rentals are available via our local partners near the Champex-Lac valley station, and in the centre of Orsieres village. Receive a discount when you compare, search & book via our Pays du St Bernard Ski & Snowboard Rental page.

Review & More Info

The Powderhounds reviewed the three Pays du St Bernard ski areas of Champex, La Fouly & Liddes in January 2026. We loved them simply for no other reason than they are quiet, had powder and were so different to the nearby Verbier & 4 Vallees. Click on the review link in the left column (or top of the page if on a mobile) to read all the reviews.
