Jasná Nízke Tatry Ski Resort Slovakia

Jasna (a.k.a. Chopok) is the largest ski resort in Slovakia. Located in the central ‘Low Tatras’, Jasná Nízke Tatry (its full name) straddles the 2,024m summit of Chopok mountain. The resort features over 50km of ski trails and a surprisingly long ski season usually spanning from late November to early May. Whilst weekends can be hectic, during the week Jasna can provide fun, quiet skiing. Pricewise, Jasna is equivalent to, or more expensive than, many medium-sized ski resorts of the western Alps.

Statically, the Jasna ski resort has a healthy skiable vertical of over 1,000m, 19 ski lifts and over 50km of piste trails on both north & south aspect terrain, including some challenging advanced pistes. Before we get there to see it for ourselves, check out the Jasna - Chopok Ski Trail Map below.

Jasna Accommodation

Accommodation on the mountain at Jasna is on either side of Chopok. The majority of ski lifts and lodging are present on Chopok North in a diverse village named Demänovská Dolina. On the quieter Chopok South, a handful of hotels, chalets & apartment complexes are near the ski lifts and are often referred to as Tále (which is actually a village a few kilometres to the south of the ski lifts).

At Demänovská Dolina, on Chopok North, lodgings are generally quite expensive, with the highest end of the accommodation the likes of the 5-star Swissôtel Damian Jasna. Any ski hotel with a Presidential suite is aiming very high indeed!

At the other end of the price scale, but in a ski-in ski-out location and including breakfast AND dinner, the exceptional Penzion Janik Jasna is where we would be quite comfortable.
