Cerro Catedral Activities & Tours

Cerro Catedral Activities

Apart from downhill skiing and snowboarding, Cerro Catedral offers a small range of other activities.

Other Skiing Activities near Cerro Catedral

Cerro Catedral has a small amount of cross country skiing near the upper station of the Amancay Gondola. The Nordic skiing trails are only 2.5km in length and they double back on each other. Cross country ski equipment is available for rent in the village.

There are also cross-country trails at Cerro Otto which is 5km from Bariloche. A free shuttle bus leaves from the centro area of Bariloche. Cross country ski equipment is available from the cafeteria at Cerro Otto and tours are also available.

For a very unique backcountry skiing experience, check out Mallin Alto Sled Skiing. Part of the adventure is getting there plus you get to stay for 2, 3 or 4 nights in the refugio in a remote mountainous spot south of Bariloche. Despite being rustic, the refugio includes lots of pampering elements and the views from the lodge are Instagram worthy!

Just over an hour south of Bariloche is the Baguales Cat Skiing operation. They offer multi-day snowcat skiing packages that include all meals and accommodation in their mountain lodge.

Keen backcountry skiers and snowboarders can stay overnight at Refugio Frey (Frey Hut – elevation 1,700 metres) which is only accessible under human power. It’s more of a hotel than a hut, and you can get pampered with fine wines and fine food. From the refugio there are an abundance of awesome ski and snowboard lines, including steep chutes and more mellow alpine bowls. There are various mountain guides that can take you out there. See the Catedral backcountry tours for options.

Family Activities

Snow tubing and tobogganing is available up at La Hoyita, near the top of the Amancay Gondola.

Adventure Activities

Snowmobiling and quad bike tours are available that run along a short trail through the forest. Quad bikes are also available for rent.

Snowbiking is another option to explore the trails of Cerro Catedral. This is particularly great for non-skiers and snowboarders because it’s relatively easy to pick up. Snowbike rentals are available at Sextuple Rental and lessons are available through the Catedral Ski School.

Leisure and Relaxation

Non-skiers can also enjoy the views of Cerro Catedral by riding up the sightseeing cable car and other lifts. You can head to Refugio Lynch for the best views on the mountain or join in the afternoon frivolity at a few of the other restaurants.

If you’re in need of some major rest and relaxation, head to the day spa at Pire Hue Lodge. In addition to a heated indoor swimming pool, saunas, and steam baths, the complex offers a range of day spa treatments such as massages, facials and body treatments.
