Most people who visit the Porters Ski Field tend to stay off-mountain to enable flexibility in their itinerary to chase the best conditions at the various nearby club fields such as Craigieburn, Broken River, Mt Cheeseman, Mt Olympus and Temple Basin.

Porters Accommodation On-Mountain

There is one Porters accommodation option on-mountain, the Porters Alpine Lodge, which is located 5 minutes from the lift base half way down the access road. It is a rustic member-run lodge available to the public offering inexpensive bunk-style rooms and shared facilities along with dinner and breakfast for each day of your stay.

Springfield Accommodation (30 min drive in good conditions)

Slightly further afield is the rural town of Springfield. A nice accommodation option is the Springfield Motel and Lodge.

Methven (1:15 hr drive)

Some people who visit Porters base themselves in Methven (which is the base town for Mt Hutt) where there is a good variety of restaurants and bars. From Methven you can ski Mt Hutt plus some of the Canterbury club fields in the area.
