Springfield Motel & Lodge
Springfield Motel and Lodge offers the best accommodation in Springfield as a base to visit the Canterbury ski fields. The comfortable lodge is boutique and offers just 4 rooms that utilise shared bathrooms, and it has a communal kitchen and lounge area. A couple of the motel units have a kitchen, whilst one motel unit has a very basic kitchenette.
Hosts Andrew and Amber will bend over backwards to ensure your stay is a memorable one.
Where is Springfield Lodge?
Springfield Motel and Lodge is in the town of
Springfield, in a quiet back street that overlooks the mountains.
Springfield is 60km west of Christchurch. It is ideally located if you are wanting to ski some of the Canterbury High Plains club ski fields such as
Craigieburn,
Broken River, and
Mt Cheeseman, as well as
Porters.
Mt Hutt and
Temple Basin are even within easy striking distance.

Lodge Accommodation
The Springfield Lodge accommodates a maximum of only 8 guests, which maximises the serenity.
Room types are one deluxe queen, one standard double, and two bunk rooms with a single bunk bed in each. All of the rooms have some storage space and a TV. None of the rooms have ensuites. There are two spacious bathrooms shared between the guests.
If you have a large group, you can book the entire lodge to yourselves.
Facilities
For the lodge, the main room is the lounge/kitchen area. With a pellet heater for ambiance, couches, a gorgeous dining table with a view out to grazing sheep, mountains and the Tranz Alpine, it feels comfortable enough to put the feet up.
Add to that the following:
- Large flat screen TV and with a huge selection of quality free DVDs
- Free wi-fi broadband for guests
- The kitchen is fully equipped with a huge six burner stove and oven, 2 separate sinks, microwave, full refrigerator, dishwasher and all of the home wares you will need to self-cater in comfort. The dining table is a massive single slab of pine with 8 stools.
For self caterers, the closest shopping is at Darfield, 23km back towards Christchurch.
