Where is Kandatsu Kogen Ski Resort?

Kandatsu Ski Resort is located 4.3km by road south of the centre of Yuzawa town and Echigo-Yuzawa train station in the Niigata Prefecture of Japan.

Driving to Kandatsu Snow Resort

The Kandatsu ski resort is only a few minutes drive from the Yuzawa Interchange off the Kanetsu Expressway, so it’s very accessible by car. The Kandatsu Kogen phone number for GPS navigation is 025-788-0111.

There is car parking near the base building, and when it’s busy you may need to park in the unsealed overflow car park which is not always great for 2WDs. The resort runs shuttles buses from this lower car park to the day lodge.

Train and Bus

To get to Kandatsu from Tokyo, catch the bullet train (Shinkansen) to Echigo Yuzawa (about 80 minutes). See the travel to Yuzawa page for more information on getting to Echigo-Yuzawa.

From the west exit of the Echigo-Yuzawa train station, there are free shuttle buses (marked with the Kandatsu Kogen logo) that take about 10 minutes. Departures are very regular, with about 3 to 4 Kandatsu shuttles per hour.

For multi-day trips it’s easiest if you stay in one of the Yuzawa hotels right near the train station. The bus stop for Kandatsu is pretty much out the front of the Yuzawa Grand Hotel and the Echigo Yuzawa Hatago Isen.

Other Transport to Kandatsu from Yuzawa

An alternative way of getting to Kandatsu Snow Resort on your own timetable is to catch a taxi. Taxis are readily available and many of the taxis have roof racks for your skis or snowboard.

A couple of the Yuzawa ski rental shops offer shuttles to the ski resorts, although equipment rental prices tend to be a little inflated in compensation for the added bonus.
