Our best skiing ever....

We have had the pleasure of two totally amazing ski safaris with Inspired Italy. A varied route with stunning landscapes and fast down hill skiing day after day, it can’t be beaten.

At night we stayed high up in the Dolomites in classic Italian Refugio’s, away from the hassle of other skiers and tourists with just the stars above us and the twinkling lights of a snow groomer in the distance. Accommodation chosen for its stunning position in the mountains & delicious food never disappointed us.

We have skied Japan, USA, Canada, NZ and nowhere have we had the skiing that this tour provides.

Dolomiti Skiing with THE CLASSIC SKI SAFARI

Dolomiti skiing means 12 skiing areas and state-of-the-art lift facilities with a good 1200 km of groomed slopes...and sunny slopes you just can't wait to get your skis gliding over. We have skied the Dolomiti area since 1999, staying for up to 3 months and taking a Super Dolomiti Ski pass which covers in excess of 450 lift facilities. We were always apprehensive of venturing more than 40 kms from our base as we did not know if we would be able to ski back to our base before the lift facilities closed. Then in 2010, we met Tim and Louise from Inspired Italy and they introduced us to their SKI SAFARI. So we put on our backpacks with a couple of changes of clothing, 'saddled-up' on our downhill skis and explored further afield for 6 days and 5 nights.
We skied in areas we had never been and never the same run twice...
We skied in small groups, up to 7, so there was minimum waiting for regrouping and more time to ski..
We skied renowned runs with names like Alberto Tomba, Thoni, The Hidden Valley, and the Marmolada - the majestic glacier nestled at over 3300m offering a thrilling early morning decent on virgin piste....
We skied thrilling slaloms, following in the ski-tracks of world cup champions on the Gran Risa, Saslong and the Olimpia delle Tofane...
We enjoyed the comforts of the Rifugios offering Italian cusine and wines while watching scintillating sunsets over magnificent massifs like the Sella, Tofane, Cinque Torre and Civetta.
We stayed in a different Refugio each night at various altitudes, some with spoiling comforts and others very rustic in the beautiful environment where livestock still graze in the summer and where many of the major battles of World War 1 took place...
And the skiing - in excess of 8000 vertical meters each day, blue, red or black, all perfectly groomed and waiting for the Ski Safari to shred the groomer tracks before the day skiers appeared.
We connected the 12 skiing areas by using the Dolomiti lift facilities or the comprehensive bus system or a train or an old fashioned horse tow.
The Ski Safari is fully escorted with guides. You never know what the next day will bring. The Ski Safari will change your ideas and expectations for your future ski holidays - you will feel as though you have skied in another world and your dreams will be of where The Ski Safari will take you next time.

Ultimate Ski Holiday

My family and I are lucky enough to have an international ski holiday every year - the Classic Dolomites Ski Safari is our best ski holiday thus far.

Our group included myself and my brother (24-26yo) and my Dad and his friends (60-75yo). Our abilities are intermediate to advanced and all had an amazing time. With my brother was able to find the steep off-piste slopes, whilst I could enjoy the continuously groomed on piste, and Dad tackled the moguls. We were very impressed by the distance we covered, without ever feeling rushed. It would be impossible to see this much of the Dolomites without a guide.

I have never experienced such amazing views and weather. Due to European engineering, even though it did not snow over our holiday, the snow machines ensured the slopes were perfect every day.

The accommodation is beautiful! Skiing with a backpack is no big deal. Food is delicious. Guides are friendly and funny.

We had such an amazing holiday that my Dad and brother are going again next year. Would highly recommend.

I've done two classic ski safaris and I'm heading back for the advanced in January.

The Dolomites are on-piste heaven - long runs, huge variety, fast and cruisy skiing. Matched with incredible scenery, good accommodation and expert guiding, this the best way to see and ski the best in the Dolomites.

Staying in the mountain lodges avoids crowds and morning queues. We love just being able to focus on skiing and enjoying ourselves with someone else making sure we get to where we need to be be!
