Dolomites Gold Highlights Ski Safari

Ski the Icons, Stay in Style

This is a Dolomites Ski Safari for those who want the best of both worlds: iconic Dolomites skiing paired with handpicked high-end stays and refined mountain cuisine. With a medium pace and a focus on the greatest hits of the South & Central Dolomites, this tour blends adventure and indulgence like nothing else. Using only groomed ski slopes you travel from high-mountain rifugio-to-rifugio through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world - the Dolomiti.

Mornings begin before the crowds arrive, with untouched snow beneath your skis and silence all around. Each night, you’ll stay in a new mountain rifugio—warm, rustic, and filled with the flavours of South Tyrol. Designed for fit intermediate and advanced skiers, this small-group experience - max 6 guests - is both intimate and unforgettable. You won’t just ski through the Dolomites—you’ll ski into them, across hidden passes, sun-drenched ridgelines, and storybook valleys.

Highlights

  • Ski for six days on the best Dolomites pistes at a medium pace led by your own local ski guide & host
  • Ski the Sella Ronda
  • Conquer the mighty Marmolada
  • Never ski the same slope twice (unless you really want to!)
  • Go fast (if you dare) on at least 3 World Cup pistes

Itinerary

This seven-night premium ‘soft adventure’ ski tour is fully hosted & guided with your own ski leader. You never have to puzzle over your trail map or think about where you're going. Just enjoy the slopes as they keep on coming ... and there are lots of them! Find the best snow, stunning mountain vistas, enjoy local cuisine and ski the classic slopes of the Dolomites, plus some lesser known, quieter ones. Ski the resorts of Alta Badia, Arabba Marmolada, Alpe Lusia San Pellegrino, the fringes of Cortina, Val di Fassa & Val Gardena.

For detailed day-by-day information about the tour program, see the Itinerary tab.

Lodging & Meals

The tour includes 5-nights' stay high in the mountains at highly rated rifugi, complete with breakfast & dinner. Each morning experience the best on-piste skiing that the Dolomites has to offer. Two nights (start & finish) are also included at a 4-star hotel in the tiny hamlet of Bulla overlooking the Val Gardena. For meals, the tour is entirely half-board, including all breakfasts & dinners.

For more information on accommodation (& meals) see the Lodging tab.

Small Groups

The Dolomites Gold Highlights Ski Safari is restricted to a maximum of six per group, plus your ski leader.

Ski Ability & Gear

This ski safari is suitable for fit, intermediate & advanced skiers that can ski at a medium pace all day. The term 'intermediate skier' is liberally banded about. Some overestimate, some underestimate. The tour operator has some clear, detailed descriptions of ski ability will be sent to you as all guests will be 'qualified' before booking to ensure that the group is of the necessary fitness & ski ability (they do their best to match groups with similar abilities). Together it can be ensured that your ski ability is what is needed for the itinerary of your choice. But remember, it is your fitness that is key and whilst the itinerary is flexible, put simply, the fitter you are, the more fun you will have.

On-piste trails are utilised throughout the tour. Off-piste skiing is possible along the way (as long as it doesn't slow the group down!), but it is at your own risk and will be without the ski leader.

Ski Equipment & Lift Passes

All mountain skis (Head Shape eV8 2026) and poles are included in the tour price. You will need to bring your own ski boots or organise to rent some for an extra fee. A price reduction is given for anyone that wishes to use their own skis & poles.

A full 6-day Dolomiti Superski lift pass is included in the tour. If you have an IKON Pass that is valid for skiing 6-days in the Dolomites, you will receive a price reduction on the overall tour tariff.

Getting There & Away

The tour starts with a pick-up from one of four locations; Innsbruck airport, Innsbruck Hbf (main train station), Verona airport, & Bolzano. To reach the start of the tour, Innsbruck (INN) is the best gateway airport. Yes, fly to Austria to ski Italy! If flights to Innsbruck are too awkward, then Verona (VRN) is the next best, but its flight schedule is even less than Innsbruck. Major international airports nearby are Munich (MUC) (just 2½hr train ride from Innsbruck) or Venice (VCE) and then train to Bolzano).

Either way, transfers can be arranged, or just get to either Innsbruck, Verona or Bolzano and get picked up by the included airport transfer. On the last day of the ski safari, after a great night’s sleep & breakfast, you will be driven to your preferred airport or other destination as negotiated with the tour operator.

DAY 3: Sella Ronda - Orange [Clockwise]

H8:30 - You're Off! An early start to take on the 44km of the world's greatest ski circuit, the Sella Ronda Orange. There's a lot of debate about whether the green or orange direction is better, but for us the longer runs and opportunities for small diversions along the Orange route make it a far more interesting itinerary. Start and finish the day at the same rifugio for a relaxing evening on the mountain.

Accommodation & Meals

The Dolomites Gold Highlights Ski Safari starts with I nights in the boutique Mea Via Slow Farm Hotel, then 5 nights in various mountain rifugi, before finishing with a final night back to the Mea Vial.

Mea Via Slow Farm Hotel

During your Ski Safari you will spend 2 nights (1 night at the start & 1 night at the end of the tour) in the beautifully appointed Mea Via Slow Farm Hotel, located in the mountain village of Bulla above Val Gardena. Rooms will be on a double or twin share basis & an amazing locally breakfast and dinner is included. Perched above Ortisei in Val Gardena, the hamlet of Bulla (Pufels) is a quiet alpine village at 1,500 m, known for its rich geology and cultural heritage. Overlooking the village is Mount Bullaccia and its famous Witches’ Benches. A short walk away, you’ll also find three historic grain mills- Droch, Zaramin, and Rumanon - one of which has been restored, preserving a piece of Bulla’s past.

Mountain Rifugi

During the middle of the ski safari you will experience the ultimate Dolomites lodging experience spending 5 consecutive nights in different alpine rifugi. The rifugi include two nights at Rifugio Passo Incisa in Alta Badia; and single nights in Rifugio Baita Cuz (Val di Fassa), Chalet Cima Uomo (San Pellegrino), Albergo & Ristorante Baita Dovich (base of Marmolada).

Note that whilst most couples will get their own private rooms with en suite, it is impossible to guarantee this. It is most likely that you will, at some point, have to share with other members of your group, but that is part of the rifugio experience!

All rifugi on this tour include breakfast & dinner, plus full bars with local aperitifs, beer, wine & grappa. Stunning sunrises & sunsets are complimentary!
