Getting To Panorama Canada

Where is Panorama Canada?

Panorama Mountain Resort is located in the Purcell Mountains of BC, Canada, 18km west of the town of Invermere in the Columbia Valley. Whilst Panorama Ski Resort is located in British Columbia, it’s not too far from the Alberta border and only 171km (2 hour drive) from Banff Alberta.

Panorama Canada is 311km southwest of Calgary (3.5 hour drive), whilst Vancouver is 851km to the southwest.

Flying

Calgary International Airport is the major gateway airport to Panorama, even though it’s 3.5 to 4 hours away. Calgary Airport is serviced by many major airlines from many cities, and there are various transfers available between Calgary Airport and Panorama if you don’t want to drive. Scheduled shuttles are twice daily, or you can get an on-demand private transfer. The drive between Calgary and Panorama via Banff is particularly stunning.

The other option is to fly into the Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International airport which is near Kimberley and a 2 hour drive to Panorama. Flights into Cranbrook originate from Calgary, Vancouver and Kelowna. There are no scheduled shuttles between the airport and Panorama, so you might want to rent a car.

Driving to Panorama Canada from Calgary or Banff

From Calgary, drive west on highway #1 (trans Canada Highway). When 30km past Banff, turn onto (the exit to Radium Hot Springs) highway 93 which is the only major exit west of Banff. Follow signs to Radium Hot Springs. Arriving in Radium, turn left at the stop sign on highway 93/95 and follow the signs to Invermere for 15 minutes. Turn right at the traffic lights and follow the signs to Invermere and Panorama ski resort. The road up to Panorama goes for about 25 minutes, and then turn left over a bridge into the resort.

Overnight guests have parking provided, whilst for day trippers there is very limited parking anywhere near the slopes. You need to park in the lower lots and then catch the slow village gondola up to the ski resort.

Getting Around Panorama

Once in Panorama a car is not required and it’s possible to walk around the village. Some of the paths are steep and don’t necessarily have steps, so wear sensible footwear. To get to the RK Heliski base, it’s possible to walk but it’s a reasonable hike. RK provide an on-demand shuttle service for heliski clients.

Travel Between Invermere and Panorama

A car may be useful to get in and out of Invermere on your own schedule. The drive time is about 20-30 minutes depending on road conditions. Otherwise it’s possible to catch a taxi or use the Mountain and Valley Shuttle that has about 9 schedules a day.
