Kicking Horse Restaurants & Bars

British Columbia Ski Tour

Kicking Horse Restaurants

There are a handful of Kicking Horse restaurants to choose from, and they tend to provide pretty good value for money (especially compared to nearby Lake Louise and Banff!).

It’s essential to spoil yourself at least once with lunch or dinner at the magnificent Eagle Eye restaurant, which is perched atop the mountain and is accessible via the gondola. The view on the terrace out the back is amazingly majestic.

Corks in the Copper Horse Lodge is open for dinner and has a nice ambience and serves amazing gourmet meals as well as bistro-style cuisine. The phenomenal food can be accompanied by a wide selection of Okanagan wines and plenty of nice cocktails.

Kicking Horse Saloon at Winston Lodge has a pretty good atmosphere and has an extensive menu of typical pub fare.

The Peaks Grill at the Glacier Lodge also serves up pub fare (minus the love) and the sports bar feels a little soulless but it’s OK.

There are also lots of dining options in Golden including traditional steak houses, international restaurants and cheap fast-food outlets. Try the Whitetooth Mountain Bistro for great food and an award winning wine list.

Kicking Horse Café

For breakfast, lunch and coffee, a must-do is the Double Black Café which is located at the base of the gondola. The coffee is great and the food options are diverse and you won’t go hungry. Not surprisingly, it can get pretty busy in the café.

Bars & Nightlife

Après ski festivities and nightlife on the mountain is present, but it’s fairly mellow. For après, the Peaks Grill has live music sometimes. Alternatively, the bar at Corks (at Copper Horse Lodge) is good for a quiet drink, or go to Eagle Eye for an après sunset drink with a view.

The Kicking Horse Saloon pub can be a bit livelier, and the action generally continues beyond après. It is located in the Winston Lodge next to the Copper Horse Lodge. With cute wood beams, an open fire place and dark furniture, the pub has great ambience and Scottish character. In addition to the drinks, they serve bar snacks and hearty meals.

There is much more action down in Golden. The Golden Taps is great for a game of pool, or the Riverhouse Tavern is popular with sledders. The Rockwater Grill and Bar offers something for everyone: restaurants, bar and nightclub.
