Where is Powder Mountain UT?

Powder Mountain is 20 miles north-east of the city of Ogden, Utah. The ski area is 55 miles north and about 90 minutes drive north of Salt Lake City international airport. Park City is 75 miles away.

The nearest town to Powder Mountain is Eden and the associated Wolf Creek Village. This area is part of the Ogden Valley along with the towns of Huntsville and Liberty. The region used to be called Ogden Hole which is a ’hole lot less flattering than Ogden Valley! Distances from Powder Mountain UT:

Driving to Powder Mountain

Having a car provides the most flexibility to get to Powder Mountain, particularly if you’re staying off-mountain, want to sample Ogden Valley restaurants, and want to visit nearby Snowbasin (or other Utah ski resorts). There are plenty of car rental options at SLC Airport.

From Salt Lake City, take I-15 North to Ogden's 12th Street exit and then follow the signs through Ogden Canyon.

From Park City, take I-80 East to I-84 junction, then West on I-84 to exit 96 and follow the signs.

The Powder Mountain road is pretty steep by Utah standards, so all-wheel-drive or 4WD and good tires are recommended.

Airport Shuttle to Powder Mountain UT

There are a few private transportation companies that provide airport shuttles to Powder Mountain or the Odgen Valley such as Black Diamond Shuttles, or there’s always Uber.

Ogden Valley Shuttles to Pow Mow

There are inexpensive UTA shuttles from Ogden (Odgen Transit Center, Courtyard by Marriot, Ben Lomond Hotel, Hilton Hotel and Rainbow Gardens) and Eden at the Moose Hollow Condos which is close to the lodging at Worldmark by Wyndham and the Wolf Lodge condos. Or there is a parking lot in Eden near the Valley Market supermarket from which shuttle buses depart. There are a few schedules per day.

The UTA buses also go to Snowbasin.

Ski Resorts Near Powder Mountain

The closest ski resort is Nordic Valley (formerly Wolf Mountain) in Eden, about 20 minutes away. Nordic Valley is a small family ski area.

Snowbasin ski resort is across Ogden Valley and 21 miles (35km) away. Snowbasin is the complete antitheses of Powder Mountain, with lots of groomed runs, glitz, and over the top facilities.

Whisper Ridge Cat and Heli Skiing is located in the vicinity of Powder Mountain, with one base in Paradise which is about an hour drive north of the ski resorts of Powder Mountain and Snowbasin.
