Shimogoryo Base Terms & Conditions
Booking, Payment and Cancellation Terms
The Company = Shimogoryo Base
Each guest will be required to complete a guest agreement, questionnaire, tenets and liability waiver. Please get in touch if you would like a copy of this document.
Deposit
A deposit of 50% of the total booking value is due on booking and reserves your dates. Dates are not held until the
deposit is received. The deposit may be paid by any member of the group on behalf of the whole group, and
payment of the deposit constitutes acceptance of these terms by every participant in the booking.
Balance
The balance is due 30 days before the first guided day. If the booking is made fewer than 30 days before the first
guided day, the full amount is due on booking. If the balance is not received by the first guided day, the Company
may treat the booking as cancelled with no refund.
Cancellation by you
If you cancel, the following applies, measured from the first guided day:
- 60 or more days before the 1st guided day - full refund
- 30-59 days before the 1st guided day - 50% of the total booking value is retained
- fewer than 30 days before the 1st guided day - no refund - the full booking value is due and payable
Bookings made fewer than 30 days before the first guided day are non-refundable from the moment of booking.
Changing your dates
One date change is permitted at no charge if you request it 60 or more days before the first guided day, subject to
guide availability and within the same winter season. Inside 60 days, a date change is treated as a cancellation and
a new booking.
Missed days — injury and dangerous conditions
If a participant is injured and cannot continue, that participant’s guiding
fee is refunded by day and by individual for the affected days. If the guide cancels a day because conditions are
dangerous — extreme weather, avalanche hazard, or similar — that day is refunded to the whole group. These
refunds are made whenever the day is lost, including on the day itself.
Changes to the plan
Mountain weather is variable. Short of a guide-cancelled day under paragraph 6, changes of objective, terrain, or
venue due to weather, snowpack, or group ability do not entitle any participant to a refund. The guide will always
seek the best safe skiing available on the day.
Removal from the Activities
No refund is owed where a participant is declined or removed due to failure to follow
instructions, misrepresentation of abilities or health, or impairment.
Cancellation by the Company
If the Company cancels a booking for any reason other than those previously outlined, all monies paid are
refunded in full. The Company is not liable for any other cost you incur, including flights, accommodation, or lift
passes — which is why insurance matters.
Payment methods
Wise or cash, in Japanese yen. Bank transfer details are available on request. Refunds are made by the same
method used for payment, less any transfer fees charged by the payment provider.
Accommodation and third-party services
The Company does not book, resell, or act as agent for accommodation, lift passes, equipment rental, or any other
third-party service. Where the Company recommends or introduces a provider, you contract with that provider
directly and their own terms and cancellation policy apply.
