Otaru Backcountry Guiding
Otaru Adventure offer backcountry guiding for PRIVATE GROUPS (of 1 to 5 people) at zones near Otaru in Hokkaido. The guides use set low risk, low vert routes designed to maximise safety, snow quality and fun, so the guiding is well suited to those who like powder riding rather than hard-core mountaineer types.

Locations
Backcountry guided day trips can occur from the ski areas of
Kiroro or
Sapporo Kokusai, and there are many other trailheads for backcountry touring near Otaru.
For full day guiding trips you can request transport between your accommodation in Otaru or Kiroro and the ski area.
Equipment
You will need to come prepared with backcountry touring equipment, whether that be touring skis or splitboard with skins, or snowshoes. You will require avalanche safety equipment and the guides have a limited amount of avi gear for rent.
Ability Level
To get the most out of your morning or day, your private group should have similar objectives and all participants should be comfortable skiing or riding any type of terrain and snow condition.
Duration
You can choose a half or full day. A morning of backcountry touring is ideal for those on a tighter timeframe or who don't need a full-on day, whilst a full day of guiding is good for those who really love to earn their turns. Whilst the default option is to meet on-snow, there is limited availability for help with transport to and from your hotel for full-day guiding.

Group
This program is for private groups only of 1 to 5 people. Solos or duos are not able to join a mixed group. The price for the group is slightly tiered with rates for 1 to 3 people in your group versus 4 to 5 people.
