Grand Slam Tour
The Grand Slam Tour from Apex Backcountry Guides is an all-inclusive adventure in the Chilean Andes which is recommended for experienced ski touring and splitboard backcountry enthusiasts.
Based in Malalcahuello in the Araucanía Region of Chile near Corralco Ski Resort, the Grand Slam Tour takes you to ambitious objectives of four volcanoes: Lonquimay; Tolhuaca; Sierra Nevada; and Llaima. The guides will
show you the best ups and the most memorable drops from impressive summits.
When you're not skinning up big mountain volcanoes or freeriding or skiing down, you'll have opportunities for relaxation in naturally heated tubs, eating fine cuisine, and cultural immersion.
Apex Backcountry Guides handle all the details so you can maximize your time enjoying Andean powder in Jurassic landscapes. The skiing and snowboarding terrain varies from high alpine volcanic summits and steep feature filled faces, to mellow open bowls and naturally gladed zones of ancient Araucaria and Coighue trees.
Southern objectives include the
ancient Sierra Nevada with a descent to thermal tubs, and the towering Llaima at 10,630ft with a 7,000ft vertical drop. To the
North are Lonquimay with initial ascent via the Corralco Ski Resorts lift and its small skiable crater, and Tolhuaca the least ridden and most remote.
From the first
snowfall of the season to the last, the guides know what's going on with the snowpack, ensuring that making turns is the only thing on your mind!
To keep things in alignment the guides count on two flex days: one to shred; and another for soaking in naturally heated hot tubs nestled in nature.
