Andes Hot Tents Tour

The trip is based near Malalcahuello in the Araucanía Region of Chile near Corralco Ski Resort, and it offers the ultimate ski-in skin-out experience.

The winter camping is really cozy and the base camp is heated with a titanium wood stove that brings comfort, and you get to cozy into a down bag on a padded cot. The tents are right in the heart of the big mountains, right on the doorstep of the skin track that leads to exciting peaks where you can do laps until your legs can't take anymore.

The trip is fully inclusive and power packed and delicious catered meals at camp will keep you charging lines all day, each day.

If you want to check availability or have any other questions, please get in touch.

Groups

This tour has mixed group dates that solos or duos can join, or you have the option to make it your own private group if you get in early.

The guest to guide ratio is a maximum of 4:1 to facilitate the alignment of objectives. The trip requires a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 7.

Season

You can head there in the peak of winter for a peak snow experience or head there in spring for corn harvesting and the chance of some powder, along with longer lighter days. During winter, the terrain choice is approximately 60% alpine and 40% trees, whilst spring opens up more alpine touring opportunities, with a 90% alpine and 10% trees mix.

Ability Level & Fitness

This tour is for expert skiers and splitboarders who are very experienced and have extensive backcountry experience. You'll need to be very fit and capable of full days ski touring / splitboarding in the backcountry. You'll also want to have a developed sense of adventure so that you can connect with nature whilst enjoying this authentic big mountain experience.

Lodging

The camping nights for the short tour are bookended with a night at Hostal Cerrito the first and last night of the standard program. Hostal Cerrito near the town of Malalcahuello is comfortable and has well appointed common areas whilst guest rooms utilise shared bathrooms. For the premium tour there are 2 nights of camping otherwise the lodging is at Posada del Río Lodge which provides spacious and comfortable lodging and more luxury than Hostel Cerrito. It has all the amenities including riverside wood-fired hot tubs, guest bar, in house chef, gym, and more. Or you can upgrade to the Valle Corralco Hotel & Spa which will cater to your personal comforts with spa services, gym, dining, bar, and volcanic views throughout your stay.

The winter camping includes a heated tipi where the group can gather and meals are prepared for you. The tents have sleeping equipment provided with sterilised liners. The bathroom amenities are well away from the tipi so they're private, protected, and you can be one with nature. Meals are made for you with locally sourced ingredients, and you'll be replenished for big days in the mountains. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.
