Where is Tangram Japan?

The Tangram Ski Resort is 34km NNE of Nagano City on the border of the Nagano and Niigata Prefectures. The interconnected ski resort of Madarao is to the east of Tangram.
Tangram Ski Circus is 9km southeast of the town of Myokokogen (and 14km from Akakura Onsen) and 16km west of the town of Iiyama.

Shuttle Bus from Narita Airport to Tangram

There are a couple of schedules per day with Nagano Snow Shuttle from Haneda Airport and Narita Airport to Tangram Ski Resort.

Train and Bus to Tangram

From Tokyo or Ueno train station, it’s about 2 hours on the Hokuriku Shinkansen (bullet train) Line to Iiyama station. See Hyperdia for train timetables and rates. From the Iiyama train station there are a few buses per day, or it’s a 45 minute taxi ride (about 5,000 yen).

Driving to Tangram

One of the easiest ways to get to Tangram is to drive there. You can get a rental car at Iiyama train station or in Nagano.

There is plenty of car parking at the base of Tangram.

Tours

Being on a multi-resort tour or package is probably the easiest way to travel to Tangram.

For those staying in Myoko Kogen as part of a Myoko Powder Package, day trips to Madarao/Tangram can be incorporated which include transport to Tangram, a combined lift pass, and morning guiding.

Other multi-resort tours based in Myoko Kogen or Yudanaka also travel to Tangram.

Other Ski Resorts Nearby

Whilst inter-connected with Madarao via the upper slopes, the two base areas are about 5.5km away via road and sometimes the road is closed.
