Sapporo Accommodation

Sapporo offers a good range of accommodation including smart business hotels, standard hotels, and budget style lodgings.

Sapporo Hotels on the Bus Route

If you're staying overnight in Sapporo City and taking a bus with Hokkaido Resort Liner to or from one of the ski resorts (such as Niseko, Furano, Kiroro, Rusutsu), you might want to stay at one of the hotels with a bus stop (for pick-ups and drop-offs) for the ultimate convenience. Or if you're using Sapporo as a base and catching the Hokkaido Resort Liner to Sapporo Kokusai and/or Sapporo Teine ski resorts, you'll find it easier if you stay at one of the hotels on the bus route.

These Sapporo City hotels are on the Hokkaido Resort Liner bus route: Otherwise the buses do pick-ups at the JR Sapporo train station, so you could stay in style at the JR Tower Hotel Nikko, a deluxe hotel that's located within the train station complex.

Hotels Near Odori Park

Hotels near Odori Park are ideal if you’re visiting the Sapporo Snow Festival, and the area also provides easy access to Susukino.

The Toyko Dome Hotel is perfectly located for the Sapporo Snow Festival, right opposite the park, and it’s also on the Hokkaido Resort Liner bus route. Some of the premium rooms offer views over the park and you can also watch the action of the festival from one of the breakfast buffet restaurants. The Powderhounds have stayed at this lovely 4 star hotel and can highly recommend it. The rooms are large and the hotel has lots of amenities and services.

Hotel Resol Trinity is located across the street from Odori Park. This 3 star hotel is well priced and has a range of western style rooms, a spa, and other amenities.

Sapporo Hotels in the Susukino Area

Susukino is an entertainment district and a great spot for tourists considering the abundant restaurants, shops, nightlife, and general buzz.

One of our favourite hotels in Sapporo is the Mercure Hotel which is perfectly located amongst the shopping, nightlife and restaurants in Sapporo. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms are a reasonable size and well furnished (including free internet access in the rooms). The hotel also has a lovely French restaurant and bar if you don't want to go outside to face the cold. One of the main draw-cards of this hotel is that lots of the staff speak English and they have a very comprehensive and friendly concierge service. Considering the quality of the accommodation and service, the hotel tariffs are surprisingly inexpensive. And very conveniently, the hotel sits on the Hokkaido Resort Liner shuttle bus route to get to the ski resorts.

We've also happily stayed a couple of times at the Sunroute New Sapporo Hotel which is a very reasonably priced hotel. It’s also located in the Susukino area and is ideally located with plenty of opportunity to get out and experience some of Japan’s wacky cultural activities. It is a 5 minute walk from Subway Susukino station (Nanboku line) or 5 minutes by taxi from Sapporo station. Conveniently it's just a few minutes walk to Odori Park if you're there for the Snow Festival, and it's right next to the Tanuki Koji arcade (souvenir and pachinko central!). The rooms at the Sun Route are Western style and some are small, as is common in Japan. Most of the staff do not speak English.

Hotels Near JR Sapporo Station

If you are just looking for an easy access hotel for a night in Sapporo, these hotels are a good choice as they are very close to the JR Sapporo Station (assuming you are coming to or from Chitose Airport by train). The upmarket hotels near the station are very convenient if you’re only staying one night, but there’s not much action in this area.

For the ultimate convenient location, you could stay at the deluxe JR Tower Hotel Nikko in the train station complex.

Sapporo Budget Accommodation

There is no shortage of budget accommodation in Sapporo including western and Japanese style hotels in the central city. If you want to totally absorb yourself in Japanese culture, why not try out a capsule hotel few just a few dollars a night (but this is for males only who don't have tattoos).

Here is one of our picks.
Capsule Inn Sapporo Capsule Inn Sapporo
