Sahoro Facilities & Services

There are Sahoro ski resort services located at the two hotels (Sahoro Resort Hotel and Club Med Japan), but most of the amenities for skiers and snowboarders are located at the Gondola Station day lodge which is next to the actual gondola station (and near the day car parking).

The day lodge at Sahoro Resort houses lift ticket sales, ski and snowboard rentals, ski school, lockers, a cafeteria, a shop, rest rooms, and a mini games arcade. There is also a lounge where for a fee you can recline in a comfie chair or use the foot massage machine! If you did that at lunch time, there's always the danger that you may never make it back out skiing!

Sahoro Ski School

Morning and afternoon group ski and snowboard lessons (with English speaking instructors) are provided as part of the all-inclusive Club Med Sahoro packages, so this is probably the best place to stay if you need some tuition. You can also pay extra for private lessons.

Otherwise the Sahoro Resort offers lessons, but only in a private format if you want an English-speaking instructor. These lessons need to be pre-booked.

Facilities for Children

In addition to the kids' ski lessons, Club Med also offers kids' programs and child care. For children over 4 years of age, this is included in the packages, whilst child care for 2-4 years incurs an extra charge.

The Sahoro Resort also offers a Kids Mini Nursery, providing child care for 1-6 year olds for either a half or full day. Child care is not provided from 12-1pm. Prices are very reasonable and reservations are required.

Sahoro offers a few family activities such as snow rafting, tubing and sledding.

Sahoro Ski Rentals and Snowboard Hire

The gondola station equipment rentals shop has a decent range of skis, snowboards, and boots, as well as cross country ski gear, snow shoes, clothing and toboggans. Club Med also has equipment rentals, but it's rather pricy.

The Sahoro Resort Hotel also has an equipment rental shop, although when we visited, some of the equipment looked rather ancient - some of the ski boots were rear entry!

Eating On Mountain

If you're not staying at the Club Med where all meals are included, there is a cafeteria upstairs in the gondola station called Fomalhaut that offers views up the slopes. It serves the usual Japanese cafeteria fare at very reasonable prices (cash only), and there's also an ice-creamery and drinks station where you can get lovely cakes (the chocolate eclairs are to die-for).

The other option is to ski or snowboard down to the Sahoro Resort Hotel to the Hana Mori Kuma Café, an eatery with delightful ambience and nice Italian inspired food.

Sahoro Shopping

There is minimal shopping at Sahoro, so with respect to ski and snowboarding clothing and equipment, bring whatever you think you might need.

Club Med Sahoro has a small boutique that sells spiffy ski outerwear, beanies, gloves and other skiing related items, as well as Club Med souvenirs.

The Sahoro Resort Hotel has a small gift shop that sells a few basic ski and snowboard accessories, typical Japanese trinkets and souvenirs, and some snacks. This is the home of Bear Mountain in summer, so the store also sells various bear related items.

There is also a small shop at the gondola station, selling a slightly larger range of ski and snowboard accessories such as helmets, gloves, goggles, and neck warmers.
