The Location - About Goderdzi
Goderdzi sits in southwestern Georgia high in the Lesser Caucasus Mountains, near the Black Sea, and is known for deep, reliable snow and pristine backcountry terrain. Its slopes feature forested runs, gentle clearings, and remote valleys, offering mostly flowing terrain with some moderate lines, making it exciting for freeride adventures while still approachable for most skiers.
The region combines wilderness skiing with a touch of comfort and hospitality. Modern lifts and the Ambassadori Goderdzi Hotel provide a base, but the real magic comes from accessing untouched snow, exploring hidden lines, and enjoying the unique mix of nature, culture, and mountains that only Goderdzi offers.
Itinerary
From the moment you exit the airport at either at Tbilisi, Kutaisi, or Batumi, everything is taken care of on the tour. Professional drivers with premium SUVs will get you safely to the transfer point below Goderdzi Pass where a snowcat will take you for the final part of the journey to the hotel. Each day of skiing you will have a private snowcat & guides for your group. For detailed information, see the Itinerary tab.
The Skiing
The five full days of private catskiing included in the tour are led by professional certified mountain guides. Each day, the guides customise the runs based on current snow and your group’s abilities, from wide-open powder fields to forested lines and alpine slopes.
Most runs are accessed by snowcat, with ski lifts included only when needed, giving you exclusive access to fresh, untouched powder.
Lodging & Meals
The Ambassadori Goderdzi Hotel is your 'home' for the duration of the tour. Located at the base of the Goderdzi ski lifts, it is a Georgian 5-star hotel only a few seasons old, with all the comforts one could expect. Delightful twin rooms are standard for the tour, however there are also double (king) rooms for couples, plus single rooms for those that prefer a room to themselves (for an additional tariff).
As with everywhere in Georgia, the food will be a highlight of the tour. Breakfast & dinners are taken in the comfort of the hotel, whilst lunches are had on the mountain. All meals are included in the tariff, excluding alcohol, which is available at bar prices.
Ski Ability, Fitness & Gear
As these are private tours, all ski & snowboard abilities can be managed, however it is best for all participants to have off-piste powder skiing experience AND be of a similar level of ability. Having a group of varied experience & ability is fine, but you may experience delays, so patience & understanding will be required!
A wide variety of ski terrain is available to cater for all levels of skier & snowboarder, however the trip is not recommended for beginners.
Ski & snowboarding gear (including avalanche safety equipment) are not included in the tariff. You are strongly advised to bring your own gear to ensure familiarity. Failing that, there is snowboard & ski gear available for rent at the hotel, and avalanche safety gear can be arranged with prior notice. Inquire with the tour operator when booking.
Getting There & Away
The tour includes a pick-up/drop-off at either Tbilisi (TBS), Kutaisi (KUT) or Batumi (BUS) airports. Goderdzi is closest to the second largest city in Georgia, Batumi. Flights to Batumi are limited in winter, often delayed due to storms and are all mainly via Istanbul. Kutaisi has a better range of reliable flights from many primary & secondary airports in Europe. Tbilisi is far and away Georgia's easiet airport to fly to/from. Flight origins and airline choice are vast compared to the other two airports. Spending a few days after the tour exploring Tbilisi is highly recommended too.
Groups Sizes, Booking & More Info
The tour is perfect for private groups of 2 to 10 people. Prices are scaled depending on group size. Cheapest is for groups of 6 to 10 guests, then 4 to 5, and finally the most expensive tariff is for small, intimate groups of 2 to 3 people. For exact pricing, see the Rates and Inclusions page.
