Best Places to Stay in La Rosière
The village at La Rosiere is a purpose-built alpine town at a high altitude of around 1,850m. The village is situated just at the edge of the local tree line, providing some sheltered skiing near & below the village, and treeless alpine above it. In appearance, the village is more reminiscent of a North American resort, which when compared to several nearby French ski resort villages is not such a bad thing! It retains some typical French Alps traits though, like a predominance of self-contained apartments and a fresh food market with stalls selling local cheeses and other delights on certain days of the week! It is a village in essential two parts, based on proximity to the main chairlift bases, which effectively 'bookend' the village. With views across the valley to Les Arcs & beyond, the village soaks up the winter sun in the best possible way.
The whole village is well served with supermarkets, bars, restaurants, general retail shops, ski rental & repair, plus entertainment (i.e. a bowling alley!) throughout. A free ski bus service connects the whole village together from one end to the other.
Some well-located 'ski in' hotels & serviced apartments are in La Rosiere near the main Roches Noires express chairlift. At the opposite end of the village is the Les Eucherts sector, with modern ski-in ski-out hotels & apartment complexes directly adjacent to the slopes, providing an incredibly family friendly village environment. Throughout both of the villages are numerous privately owned apartments & chalets available for holiday rental.
Worth knowing when looking at accommodation at La Rosière is that many (but not all) of the apartment ‘Residences’ only accept 7-night bookings from Saturday to Saturday. Hotels and other apartments are more flexible.
If booking last minute and cannot find anything on the hill, there are a few wonderful, affordable options down in the valley at Séez, Bourg St Maurice & Viclaire.

Other hotel & apartment complexes line the main road down the hill.
At Les Eucherts newer, tastefully designed, ski-in ski-out hotels & apartment complexes line the slopes above the Eucherts chairlift. Once the quieter part of the resort village it may not be anymore! If you have the budget and want absolute top-class facilities & convenience, try the following. One of the best hotels in the resort is the Hôtel Alparena & Spa. Also check out the superb, and more family friendly, ILY Hotels & Spa. For self-contained apartments suitable for families & larger groups, check out the Résidence Les Balcons.
