Visited Valdez Heli Ski Guides and Tsiana Lodge in March (same trip as video on another review). As I had taught skiing at Jackson Hole in the 80s I knew Jeff Zell and requested him as a guide. The four in our party were glad I did. It was what I had dreamed of.

While the powder wasn't hip deep - it was silky smooth, the views incredible and the runs totally exciting. Our Austrian pilot (also a Denali rescue pilot) was a truly skillful flyer - loved the runs downs and the trips back up.

I skied with VHSG the winter of 2010-2011, not the epic one. But, I am going to write in anyways. I usually go solo on such trips and fitting in can be an issue at times with any company. But, VHSG matched me in and gave me an experience of a life time. It wasn't only the skiing, but the heli flights/landings, the people that I skied with, and the professionalism of the guides and support staff from VHSG.

I would ski again with VHSG in a heart beat, if the opportunity came up again! The new lodge looks great now!

Great guides, incredible pilots (I didn't expect the flights to be just as awesome as the skiing), and bad ass terrain.

Everyone we dealt with was super nice and accommodating.

As for the skiing, we were a little nervous because we consider ourselves expert skiers and didn't want to spend this much money if we weren't challenged. Wasn't even close to being an issue. The landings and drop ins were some of the most bad ass things we had ever done. We were also given plenty of options for most runs depending on what we liked to ski. And they do a good job grouping people. No one ever "held us back." When we drove back to our hotel after our first day, our smiles were ridiculous.

We did get really lucky, however, with the blue skies, new snow, and low avalanche danger. No complaints there.

We don't plan on ever skiing with another outfit in Alaska.
