Mammoth Facilities & Services

Mammoth Mountain is a world class ski resort and it has facilities and services to match. There are three primary base areas at the Mammoth Ski Resort: Main Lodge; Canyon Lodge; and Eagle Lodge (not sure why they call it a lodge because it’s currently a massive tent). All three lodges have the full gamut of amenities, including snowboard and ski rentals, and ski school with magic carpets for the littlies. Be mindful that Eagle Lodge tends to close a little early in the season, due to the low elevation of the slopes there.

Other amenity hubs are at the Mill Café base and up at McCoy Station, the mid station for the Panorama Gondola.

Mammoth Ski Rentals and Snowboard Rental

There are soooo many Mammoth ski shops that rent out ski and snowboard equipment, and thanks to plenty of healthy competition, the quality of the gear is very good. There are Mammoth ski rental shops in The Village at Mammoth, and at the three base areas of the ski resort. There are also rental outlets in some of the accommodations (e.g. Mammoth Mountain Inn). Down in the town of Mammoth Lakes there are several ski and snowboard rental shops, and there are also delivery services if you don’t want to leave the comfort of your lodging.

If you’re looking to rent cross country ski gear, you can check out Kittredge Sports, Mammoth Mountaineering and the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center.

Facilities for Children

Child care is available for newborns to aged 7 at the Mammoth Mountain Inn opposite Main Lodge and in the Village. Hourly, half day, all day and evening options are available, and child care and ski lesson combos are available for 3 year olds and up.

There are also Mammoth babysitting services available (infants to teens), whereby a sitter can come to your lodging.

For hotel guests of the Westin Resort at Mammoth, Kids Club is available over winter 4-9pm daily for ages 4-12.

Mammoth Ski School

Mammoth has a very reputable snowsports school with the full scope of lesson options from beginners up to advanced, group lessons for kids and adults (half or full day), private lessons, multi-day camps, and adaptive ski lessons. Kids’ lessons are for ages 3 and up.

Eating On Mountain

There is an abundance of eateries and cafes on-mountain at Mammoth Ski Resort. Main Lodge and Canyon Lodge have large cafeterias as well as bars, with some great food options that stray away from just the burgers and chilli that you typically find in ski resort cafeterias. The big tent at Eagle Lodge has a little café, with some items that are outrageously priced. McCoy Station has various eateries too.

Yodler Restaurant and Bar opposite Main Lodge serves up Bavarian fare, or for amazing views head up to the summit to the Top of the Sierra Café for sandwiches, baked good and salads.
