Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel

Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel

The Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel is in the heart of the party town of South Lake Tahoe and the Heavenly Ski Resort. The hotel is in a superb location to stay in this bizarre place that combines a beautiful lake and foreshore with glitzy casinos and amazing tree skiing at Heavenly.

Where is Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel? The Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel is located in the town of South Lake Tahoe, just (literally) on the Californian side of the border with Nevada. South Lake Tahoe is about a 1.5 to 2 hour drive from Reno Airport. If you don't have a rental car, South Tahoe Express runs cheap and convenient bus shuttles directly to the door.

The Lake Tahoe Resort is within 3 minutes walk of the Heavenly Ski Resort gondola station. Other ski resorts within driving distance include Sierra at Tahoe and Kirkwood.

Rooms All of the rooms at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel are two room suites. The spacious suites have a lounge / dining area and separate bedroom, and each comes with:
  • King or two queen beds;
  • Large lounge area with sofa bed;
  • Full dining table;
  • Kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator and sink;
  • Second wash basin separate from en suite in main bedroom;
  • TVs in lounge and bedroom.
Each suite is nicely furnished and very comfortable for a lengthy stay. The sofa bed in the lounge allows for an extra couple. The bedrooms in each suite are very quiet, the lounge area a little less so.

Facilities and ServicesThe hotel has a 24 hour front-desk and concierge and they also offer lift ticket sales for Heavenly Ski Resort. There is also room service plus you can order an in-room massage (additional cost).

The hotel has a hot tub, heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and gymnasium.

There is also a gift shop on-site.

Dining A full cooked breakfast is included in the tariff at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, so you’re well set up for a big day on the ski hill. Breakfast includes cereals, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast porridge, french toast, cooked to order omelettes with all the trimmings, juice and hot drinks.

Lunch and dinner are available in the Echo Lounge. It serves a wide selection of classic American cuisine at reasonable prices.

Some self catering is possible by utilising the basic kitchenette in each suite. Supermarkets are 10 minutes walk away.

Don’t miss the nightly manager’s reception from 5.30 to 7.30 pm each day. Complimentary beer, basic spirits and cocktails are available together with snacks and other nibbles. They've got après covered in your room tariff! Make the most of it.

Dining options abound just out the front door the hotel. Casinos and their associated buffet restaurants and take-away's are next door as well as many other eateries.

We also recommend the Sunset Dinner Cruise on Lake Tahoe onboard the paddle steamer MS Dixie II. Cruise price includes return bus transfers from the hotel to Zephyr Cove, dinner, and a rocking band on-board the MS Dixie II. The cruise runs for about 3 hours and drinks are available at standard bar prices. Bookings can be taken through the concierge.

For FamiliesKids will love the indoor heated swimming pool and games table area.

All kids 17 and under stay free!

An all Round Winner

Firstly this hotel is in a premier location just 3 minutes walk to the Heavenly Gondola and a stone's throw from dozens of restaurants, bars and a casino.

The rooms are spacious. We stayed in a King room and there was a double sofa in the lounge where an extra 1 or 2 persons could sleep.

The kitchenettes are fairly basic but more than adequate to make up breakfast and simplemeals if you prefer to stay in at night.

The complimentary happy hour in the late afternoon is a bonus and a great way to arrive back at the hotel after a day on the slopes.

The restaurant has a good variety of American cuisine and the prices were very reasonable when we visited.

The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great stay.

In summary: Great rooms, good rates, inclusions like full breakfasts and complimentary evening drinks, fantastic location close to the ski hill and next to the casinos. Welcome to party town!
