Ski above the tree line

The drive up the road to Farellones with its 29 tight switch backs that climb over 6,200 feet, sets the stage for La Parva. The mountain resort has a traditional look and feel of a North American ski mountain, but with a twist, you are above the tree line! The landscape is wide open with chutes and bowls. Would suggest using ski guides to maximize your day as the trail maps are poor.

Highly recommend staying at Powder Lodge, which is a little slice of heaven at the end of the day. The owner Christen and his staff cater to everyone’s needs, complete with a wood fired hot tub, sauna, amazing food and accommodations.

Great snow, no crowds!

Went to La Parva last year during a very low snow year but got very lucky. They got a 1 meter storm the week prior and about 6 inches the night before I skied here. La Parva doesn't have any hotels at the base so it is much less crowded than the other two resorts in the area. It was a weekend powder day and the lift lines were non-existent. We were skiing fresh tracks all day!

The terrain is best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. The off piste and backcountry terrain was challenging and a lot of fun if you knew where to go (we had a guide). The infrastructure of the resort was great and the lifts were very well laid out so moving around the resort was fairly easy.

I would highly recommend making sure your Santiago ski vacation involves taking a day to ski La Parva!

Great For a Day Visit From Farellones

If you’ve got an unlimited budget, La Parva is an exclusive and family friendly place to stay in one of the luxurious apartments. Otherwise, La Parva is a fantastic spot to head for day trips from Farellones.

La Parva is my favourite of the Tres Valles ski resorts with more advanced off-piste terrain and lots of nooks and crannies to keep things interesting, and the hike-to-terrain above the ski area is impressive. The vertical of this steep terrain isn’t long, but the upside is that the hike isn’t that long either.
