Beautiful

The Valle Corralco Hotel has completely transformed the Corralco ski resort into the new destination for those looking for an extravagant Chile ski holiday.

The exterior of the hotel has been very tastefully designed to blend in with the environment, whilst the interiors and furnishings are exquisite without being too over the top. The combined use of stone and wood look very classy and are in keeping with the mountain setting (the hotel even smells nice!).

Our hotel room was beautiful and everything was big. The overall room was large, the king bed was huge (and incredibly comfortable), the bathroom was big, and the shower and the shower rose were gigantic too.

When we visited the hotel it had only been open for a couple of months, and at that stage some of the service was lacking. Some of the key staff (front desk, activities desk, baggage assistance) provided exceptional service, whilst in other areas the staff were still learning the ropes. We had to work really hard to get the attention of the staff in the bar (who seemed more interested in watching the blaring TV than providing service), and little service details were missing. For example the restaurant staff put out a spoon to serve sausages! So whilst the hotel rates itself as a 5 star hotel, it’s probably more like a 3.5 star as rated on an international scale with respect to the level of service.

We were pleasantly surprised that quite a few staff spoke perfect English (considering our dreadful Spanish!), including the fantastic tour guides at the activities desk.

The pool was a highlight of the hotel. It was just stunning and the delightful views up the mountain made it even more attractive. We had a hot stone massage in the day spa which was very expertly done. The only improvement would have been if they’d made an effort to minimise noise from the upstairs gym area.

Lots of South American families were staying at the hotel, which is not surprising considering how family friendly the hotel is, although it might not suit children who only speak English (group ski lessons in Spanish, child care staff speak Spanish only).

The hotel had no cell phone coverage and the internet connection was intermittent.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Valle Corralco Hotel and could thoroughly recommend it to others. The accommodations are delightfully upmarket and the service should improve over time to make this an appropriately rated deluxe hotel. The hotel only caters to upscale clientele and it costs a pretty penny to stay there, which was not quite in line with the value provided (this is also evident at La Parva and Valle Nevado). Nevertheless, this is a fantastic hotel for discerning guests who desire some exclusivity and lavishness.
