Japan Powder Culture Tours delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. Traveling as a relatively large group of 12 snowboarders, we felt that every detail was thoughtfully considered, with the guides consistently tailoring each day to match our expectations and skill levels. Snow conditions were excellent, and what stood out most was the team’s commitment to finding the best possible runs—often going the extra mile to chase optimal conditions and avoid crowds.

Beyond the riding, the trip offered a deeper connection to the culture of Japan’s mountain regions. From authentic food to onsen visits and the choice of quieter, less tourist-heavy areas, the experience felt both immersive and well-curated. It was more than just a snowboarding trip—it was a complete cultural and adventure package. Would definitely recommend Japan Powder Culture Tours and hope to return soon.

An amazing 10 days with Japan Powder Culture Tours

When my partner and I were planning our trip to Japan, we really wanted to see experience the best of the famous Japow. Japan Powder Culture Tours was the perfect solution for us. Jase and the team are an amazing bunch of people and created a great experience for us.

There were multiple groups with varying abilities and the guides did an amazing job of pairing people by their ability levels.

One of the main things that we really appreciated was how the guides used their knowledge of the mountains (particularly old faithful) and their groups of skiiers to help us snowboarders access some of the harder-to-access areas without having to hike out for hours. This was hugely beneficial a few days after the snow storm when fresh tracks were a little harder to find. Jase and team expertly used the skiiers to cut some lines for the flatter takeouts and traverses, allowing the advanced boarders to access pow we'd never get to otherwise.

On the same note, somehow we we were still riding fresh (deep) pow even 7 days after the storm! I don't think we could get that anywhere else other than with Jase and the team.

We had an amazing time and will definitely be back.

Wow, what a great experience. It was so much fun I stayed a few extra days. I enjoyed the mix of people from all over. Great team of tour guides. Well matched groups based on skill level. Onzen oh yeah. I also really appreciate the cultural experience that was offered. Snow monkeys, National Parks, samurai castles, sake breweries, it’s all there if you want to take a break in between or before and after. 5/5 Will do it again.

I had a blast with these guys on the mountain and off. We got some snow on Day 1 and Jase was able to find powder for 5 days after the storm. When the pow was gone, Adam taught us all some tricks. Learned how to perfect my switch riding and landed my first 180 of my life in just a few hours. True story.

Amazing powder, amazing culture

I just got back from a nine-day snowboarding trip with JPCT and it was amazing. Going into the trip and I huge expectations based on the years of hearing stories of Japow, and looking back I can say it is all 100% true. We had phenomenal snow conditions every day of the trip except one, when there was huge storm and it snowed too much. Everyday Jase and his crew would guide us to untracked lines all over the mountain and only we would ski, and we could return a day or two later to do it all again. I'm so glad I went with a guided trip as there is no way I would have found all these lines, and instead would have spent the majority of the time trying to figure out how to get around the mountain or hiking out of ravines. So worth it! In addition to the snow conditions the Japanese ski resorts are great. Beautiful terrain, great food and restaurants, almost no lift lines.

I went on this trip for the snowboarding but also for the cultural aspect of being in Japan and here as well this trip exceeded what I had hoped for. The Jase and his crew are incredibly hard working and a full day skiing they would facilitate a huge variety of culture experiences ranging from visiting 400-year old cypress trees at the Togakushi shrine to a super modern sushi restaurant where you order on an iPad and the food is brought to your table by a laser-controlled conveyer belt. Not to mention the daily trip to the Onsen.

I highly recommend Japan Powder Culture Tours

Had so much fun with jase and his team! They know the areas well and showed us some really awesome riding and very entertaining evenings. The culture part of the tour offered really great events, activities and sight seeing. Jase was very easy to deal with for booking and for sure went above and beyond. I am very happy i booked a trip with JPCT!

I'd been following powder hounds and their reviews for several years until I finally decided to see what a tour would be like.
I was not disappointed the tour was very well organised, the accomodation and guides excellent provided they had very tough conditions as the season 2020 was a low for Japan standards. Jase the tour leader is one of a kind with his humour and wittiness always keeping the laughs on the private minibus rides to the resorts. Yoshi and his lovely wife who own the Lodge Aibya where I stayed was excellent with their hospitality and cleanliness. This lodge is far from budget accommodation.

This tour definitely provides some cultural aspects too they keep you and the crew together after the slopes which really bonds the group together and I have made life long friends from this tour.

In terms of the snowboarding itself it was very much appreciated not having to worry about where to go as the guides were very experienced and explained the routes well! Having been to Japan before the snow (although poor this year) had its good days extremely deep dry powder that is better then anywhere else I've been. I wouldn't look anywhere else for a tour company that makes it so easy for you. All you have to worry about is which bit of powder your going to shred with a great big grin!! Being a young person it was slightly expensive for myself but only because everything is done for you. Would highly recommend this tour!!!

It’s taken me a few months to write this review . Why? It’s because I’m still speechless . Amazing terrain . Knowledgeable guides . Japanese culture experiences that truly are quintessentially Japanese . Jason and his crew (Tyson , Gus , George ) have a love for what they do and it shows . I can’t wait to join another tour . see you in 2021 boys !

Second consecutive year with JPCT

This is the second consecutive year with Jason and his team. We recently finished the Ultimate Roadie and Buffet with the addition of a new area Aizu. What an epic adventure!

First I'd have to say how well organized these tours are. The JPCT team is extremely good at what they do. From avalanche safety gear and training to finding the best snow and terrain every run of the day. There is no other resort area in the world I've snowboarded where the last run of the day is the best run of the day other than in Japan. What is also great is the group size usually maxing out at six guests per guide and all with similar experience levels. This makes for plenty of runs per day. On average I tracked us doing 5000 vertical meters (16000+ feet) and our best day we rode just over 7000 vertical meters (23000 feet)!!! This is much more than I have ever seen cat boarding.

Not only does the JPCT team provide the best possible snow conditions, terrain and lack of crowds but the accommodations and cultural evenings are also an awesome experience. From soaking up the onsen after a great day of riding to sushi train to karate night to geisha games the crew will keep you well entertained! The food at both the hotel and in town at local restaurants is amazing. If you experience a down day or have a rest day you must check out the snow monkeys it really is worth the visit, just make sure you go early before the crowds show up.

To sum it up not only does Jason and the crew provide the best powder riding experience but with the great accommodation, variety of food, cultural events and value for $$$ it's really a no brainer. If you have been looking for a guided pow riding trip to Japan I suggest you give this one some serious thought. I also suggest you check out the "Week With JPCT" video on the website. It should give you a good idea what to expect.

To Jason, Gus, Tyson, and George thank you for another amazing adventure!!!
