Nevados de Chillan & Corralco Ski Week

If you are don't mind doing a bit of work to earn your turns and are up for an adventure exploring 2 of chile's best volcano resorts this tour might be just the ticket!

This 7-day / 6-night tour starts at Corralco staying 3 nights in their 5-star resort hotel where you will use a combination of lifts & people-power to access the diverse range of terrain around the Lonquimay Volcano. After this you will be transferred in a private vehicle to massive ski area of Nevados de Chillan where you will spend the next 3 nights, spending the days exploring endless powder lines.

You will ski/ride with a local multi-lingual certified UIAGM-IFMGA Mountain Guide in groups of up to 4 guests per guide.

Your guide will be available to you 24/7 for the duration of the tour and in addition to the awesome skiing & riding, they will introduce you to the local culture, hot springs, incredible local restaurants & bars.

The package includes high quality accommodations, all meals & transport to/from Temuco airport and to the resorts, gaily guiding and/or other activities.

Group Type

You can join a fixed-date tour as a solo traveller or small group looking to join a group, or you can book as a private custom group trip any time during the custom date period. Fixed-date tours require a minimum of 3 participants to run.

It should be noted that whilst Esnativa Backcountry will do all they can to match abilities in the mixed group tours, there may be some variability between abilities which may influence some of the terrain choices. If this is of concern you are better off getting your own private group together of similar abilities.

Locations

This tour visits the best 2 volcano ski resorts in Chile being Lonquimay (Corralco ski Resort) and Nevados de Chillan.

The resorts all have reasonable lift infrastructure (but not like the major resorts near Santiago) and good on-mountain services.

Terrain

Whilst the majority of this tour is lift-access piste, off-piste and sidecountry, there will be plenty of opportunities for ski touring / splitboarding to access some of Chile's best backcountry areas.

Each of the ski areas offers open bowls, chutes and couloirs with slopes between 25 and 45 degrees. There is no tree skiing at these resorts.

Ability

This tour requires a medium to high level of physical fitness and strong intermediate to advanced level of skiing/riding ability to access the sidecountry/backcountry and some of the challenging steep and variable snow conditions.

If you have a friend or partner who is an intermediate skier/rider, they could potentially join this tour and ski/ride around the resorts each day.

Equipment

You will require basic backcountry equipment including ski touring/splitboarding gear, backpack, shovel, probe & beacon. This equipment can be rented if required with advanced notice.

Guiding & Hosting

You will have an experienced local guide/host for the duration of the tour who will be available 24/7. The guide ratio is 1:4 guests. The minimum number of skiers/boarders for a tour to go is 3 and the maximum is 6.

For your safety, all guides are certified and qualified and you will be guided by someone who lives and spends most of his time in this area.

Itinerary

This is the general proposal of the trip, the tour can take another course if the weather gets complicated. Always focused on maximizing skiing and adventure. This itinerary is made to get the most out of your trip. This trip can be modified according to weather conditions. If conditions are not optimal, we have options of skiing in monkeytrees/ araucaria forests with scenic views.

Day 1: Arrival at Temuco's ZCO airport

On your first day in Chile, you'll meet your guide and the rest of the group at Temuco's ZCO airport at 9.00-10.00 am.

After meeting up with the group, you'll embark on a scenic journey through verdant farmlands and forests, making our way to the beautiful Corralco Ski Resort.

Upon arrival, we'll settle into the luxurious Corralco Hotel and Spa, where we'll have a chance to relax before diving into an exhilarating afternoon of skiing.

As the day winds down, you'll reconvene for a delectable group dinner at the hotel, sharing stories of our first day's adventures.

Day 2 - 3: Ski/Ride/ExploreLonquimay Volcano

These days are all about diverse ski touring experiences around Lonquimay Volcano and its surrounding peaks.

Mornings start with a hearty breakfast buffet, setting you up for backcountry adventures beyond the resort.

Plans remain flexible  - your guide will assess conditions to balance time between the ski resort, side country, and backcountry skiing.

Post-adventure each day, relaxation awaits at the hotel's spa and pool. Evenings bring delightful dinners paired with fine red wine, offering the perfect end to exhilarating days on the slopes.

Day 4: Travel to Nevados de Chillan

After a satisfying breakfast and checking out from the hotel, you'll embark on a scenic road trip to Nevados de Chillan Ski Resort, enjoying a picturesque journey.

Upon arrival, you'll settle into the new hotel before wrapping up the day with a delightful dinner onsite.

*Depending travel timing, the group might opt for morning skiing at Corralco or indulge in later afternoon skiing upon reaching Nevados de Chillan.

Day 5-6: Ski/Ride/Explore Nevados de Chillan

Revolve around backcountry tours around Volcano Nevados de Chillan.

Mornings begin with a group breakfast buffet at the hotel, setting the tone for two days of thrilling ski touring and split boarding outside the resort. Should the group desire, we'll incorporate some time within the ski resort for added activities.

Post-adventure, afternoons invite relaxation in the outdoor hot springs or the cozy comfort of the hotel's spaces.

In the evenings the group will unite for dinner at the resort, where you'll relish Chilean cuisine and explore the diverse world of Chilean wines.

Day 7: Return travel to Santiago

Marks our return to Santiago. We'll kick off the day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel.

Following that, we'll head to Concepcion airport (CEP) for your one-hour flight back to Santiago to meet international departures.

For those scheduling a domestic flight from Concepcion, it's advised to plan it for after 1:30 pm. If you're aiming for an international departure on the same day, ensure your flight is scheduled after 8:00 pm to allow enough time for connections and check-in procedures.
