The Classic 2 Run Package
The "classic" Ski the Tasman package includes 2 guided scenic ski runs, 3 scenic flights, and a scenic picnic lunch (plus scenery all around!). This is a phenomenal experience - see the
Ski the Tasman overview for reviews and information about location, snow and terrain.
The tour meets at Mount Cook Airport at 09:30. After fitting gear and a safety brief you will be quickly underway on this incredible adventure ski day.
Once on the snow the aircraft departs and you are immersed in the natural quiet of the mountains, amongst New Zealand's highest peaks. The
2 longest ski runs in the Southern Hemisphere (outside Antarctica) await your fresh tracks.
The package also includes safety equipment (avalanche transceivers) and return transfers to your accommodation at Mt Cook (if required). Ski rentals (and boots & poles) are also available for an additional cost.
The tours operate daily from
1st July to 30th September,
weather permitting.
If you wish to stay in the area, you can organise your own
Mt Cook accommodation if you wish, with the
Hermitage Hotel Mt Cook being the jewel in the crown of the village.
If you are staying in Queenstown and have a group of at least 4, Ski The Tasman can arrange a package including same-day return flights from Queenstown/Mt Cook
.
Snowboarders
Ski the Tasman has traditionally just been for skiers. Snowboarders can now join the tour but as skiers and snowboarders need to take a different line, usually skiers and snowboarders are not mixed in the one group unless you're an expert snowboarder. It is recommended that snowboarders book in groups of 4. Alternatively snowboarders may wish to go heli skiing with
Mt Cook Heliski.
