Yamadasan
Yamadasan Ski Lodge (formerly Bergland Inn) is newly renovated and provides comfortable lodge style accommodation in Madarao Japan. Western style rooms for 2-5 guests have either private toilet or full bathroom. Your English speaking hosts will get you fully dialled into Madarao with lift passes, equipment rentals, backcountry ski tours, lessons & restaurant recommendations. Two communal lounge areas and an on-site restaurant and bar top off the experience.
Where is Yamadasan Ski Lodge Madarao?
Yamadasan Ski Lodge is located only a short walk to the lifts (400m – 5 mins) of
Madarao Mountain Resort.
Restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance of the lodge, or you can dine in at Yamadasan.
You’ll find information on getting there on the
Madarao travel page, and if you decide to travel by train to Iiyama station, the lodge can provide return transfers between the station and lodge (for minimum 2 night stays).
Or if you’ve got a
rental car to make the most of the many nearby ski resorts, there is free parking available nearby.
Lodge Rooms
The lodge has western style rooms:
- Queen/twin room with private bathroom (shower)
- Deluxe triple rooms (3 single beds or 1 queen + 2 single beds) with private bathroom (shower)
- Quad room (4 singles or 2 queen beds) with private toilet and handbasin – utilises shared shower facilities
- Family room (5 single beds or 1 queen + 3 single beds) with private toilet and handbasin – utilises shared shower facilities
A rollaway bed can be utilised in most rooms for an additional guest. A cot and baby seat are available for use at no extra charge.

Dining & Bar
Breakfast is included. Breakfast is western style and includes a buffet of cereal, toast, breads, jams and spreads, fruit, milk and fresh juice. The chef also prepares cook-to-order hot breakfasts on a rotating menu with fare such as bacon and eggs, pancakes, and omelettes.
There is self-service coffee and tea available from 6:45am until 9pm. The lodge also has an espresso coffee machine and cafe service from 7am until 6pm.
Come home after a big day on the slopes for après ski and happy hour in the restaurant and bar, with the potential for sushi and sake! Complimentary hors d'oeuvres are provided from 4.30pm until 5.30pm and happy hour is from 4pm until 6pm daily.
The bar is open from 3pm until 9pm and has a selection of Japanese whiskies, local sake, Japanese beers, and hot toddies. This is a great spot to mingle with other guests.
The on-site restaurant serves up lots of great cuisine including seafood, BBQ grill and other international fare. The restaurant also serves up child friendly options, and the chef can accommodate any dietary or food allergy requirements (with pre-notification).
