Sainte Foy is considered by off-piste enthusiasts as Eden, a hidden paradise of powder - but shush it’s a secret! The 4 chairlifts of the ski resort allow skiers and snowboarders to easily access many off-piste itineraries away from the region’s crowds of free-riders. The atmosphere in this little corner guarantees exceptional days for all adventurers & the experience is made all the better with the services of a local guide.
At Sainte Foy, as well as off-piste ski days, there are regular and private group ski lessons for adults & children, plus ski-touring and even heliskiing in the nearby mountains & glaciers of Italy. Duration can be 2 or 3 hours, half, full or multi-day, you choose.

Off-piste Terrain
The less experienced skiers will not be bored as the untracked slopes leading down to le Monal through le Vallon du Clou are ideal to discover the joys of the first turns in deep powder snow.
Those who have already some experience will discover le Col du Granier, an extraordinary route down to le Crôt and la Mazure hamlets, and when conditions permit all the way down to the village of Saint Foy Chef Lieu, a descent of 1,500m vertical.

Guides & Safety
The specialized instructors are fully qualified, highly experienced professionals from our local partners at Ski Safari 9 Vallees affiliate, Snocool Ski School. They intimately know every off-piste & backcountry itinerary in Sainte Foy Tarentaise.
Every person in your group will be provided with the latest model of avalanche transceivers, shovels and probes. At the start of every day the guide will brief the group on the use of the safety equipment.
Ski Ability
3hr, half and full day guiding sessions are for everyone that is keen to learn off-piste skiing & skinning, but also those that are experienced & just wanting to ski the best Sainte Foy untracked lines with a minimum of fuss! Your guide will set the itinerary according to the level & wishes of the group.
For those new to skiing the off-piste. You will discover suitable itineraries for introduction to off-piste skiing, learning about balance in powder snow and, if necessary, reinforcing piste technique. Each introduction session starts with a briefing about safety equipment use.
For advanced & experts, your guide will choose the best off-piste routes in the resort according to the quality and the stability of the snow. Every session will start with a safety briefing!
Ski Equipment
In order to make the most of your off-piste session, it is recommended that your skis have a waist width of at least 100mm. If you have hired your skis for the week, go to the hire shop the evening before to change your skis.
Meeting Point
The meeting is at a location pre-arranged with you or alternatively at the Snocool office right next to the restaurant ‘La Maison à Colonne’, just near the Grand Plan chairlift base.
