I visited during a storm cycle in late March-early April. Lots of fog and very limited visiblity. Only the gondola was working, so I got bored very soon because it was impossible to go off-piste. Mostly families. Will not go back...

Gletscherwelt is the name of the resort and it does not let you down. After driving a small idyllic mountain road for a little less than half an hour, I arrived on a sunny Wednesday morning in Enzigerboden. The parking lot was half full but no sign of crowds. Before I started my tour, I checked the conditions with the lifty and make sure when the slopes close. A friendly lady gives me all the answers I need. I am in a touring mood so I decide not to use the 'seilbahn-one-way-ticket' and start on the ski route next to the lift.

Its a lovely tour through the forest and the trail is well maintained. It took me approx. 40 min (300m vertical) to get to the 'mittelstation'. It looked deserted, the lift seems the only thing running here. The restaurants were closed and there are barely other visitors. A family group runs down the slopes and I met some local tour-skiers. A group of freeriding snowboarders come down as I climbed up. But that's about it.

As I am alone and didn't purchase a lift ticket, I continue my tour on the only slope there is, my goal is to reach the Rudolphs Hutte (the only facility that does seem to be open). The scenery does not let me down. I see 1 freerider coming down on a face with barely any other tracks. Its surprising to see this little tracks after the snowfall in this area (finally) a couple of days ago.

After a steady climb I arrived at the Rudolphs Hutte and enjoy the view on the glaciers around. After a well deserved beverage, I return to Enzingerboden. Due to my limited experience I only catch some powder next to the slopes and enjoy the ride down. Next time I visit I make sure I'll contact a local guide.

The views are stunning, the locals are friendly. It is not too big and don't expect many facilities, but if you like the quiet and looking for a place to play around without stress for untouched powder, I can 100% recommend this place.

(Blog Moderators note: As expected, sounds like our kinda place. See you there next season for sure!)
