Itinerary

The Bear Claw Lodge package season takes place in the months of January, February and March. Each week operates from Friday P.M. arrival to Friday P.M. departure.

Arrival Day (Friday)

Guests will be collected at the following times and places:
  • Smithers Airport: 07:40 pm (19:40)
  • At your accommodation: 7:00 pm (19:00) if you are already in Smithers on Friday.
Note, flight schedules may change and pick-up times will be adjusted accordingly.
  • Guests will be collected by a Skeena Heliskiing shuttle and will arrive at Bear Claw Lodge around 10:00 pm. The drive is approximately 1 h 40 min, weather & road conditions dependent.
  • Upon arriving at the lodge, you will check into your room and then we will sit down for a snack.
Day 1 - (Saturday)
Breakfast is served at 8:00 am. After breakfast everyone will be taken through avalanche safety and beacon training, helicopter safety briefing and ski/snowboard & equipment adjustment. Everyone will need to sign our Release of Liability Waiver.

Heliskiing/boarding will commence at 11:30 am weather permitting.

Day 2 - 6 (Sunday to Thursday)

Mornings
Each morning you have the option of joining a stretching class at 7:15 am. At 8:00 am a scrumptious breakfast will be served consisting of a continental breakfast buffet with cheese / meat platters, lots of fruits and home made bread. Every day a cooked breakfast (different special each day) is served. Breakfast is held in the common dining area where you will also be briefed on the snow conditions.

During the Day
After breakfast the first group will take a ride on the heli at about 9:00 am (weather dependent).

Terrain selection is determined by the guides each day based on avalanche assessment, weather and group ability; ensuring your safety is the number one priority.

Lunch is served in the mountains (around 12:00 to 1:00 pm) which includes picnic-style sandwiches with home made bread, soup and home made cookies, and hot tea and coffee. Between runs there is water and chocolate bars available for you to snack on.

Skiing continues throughout the afternoon to 4:00 to 5:00 pm (at the latest) depending on weather and the time of the year.

An average day is around 7,000 metres of vertical (23,000 feet) and can be up to 12,000 metres (40,000 feet) in a day. This highly depends on weather, snow conditions and the speed of the group and whether you are there to max the vertical or to enjoy the moment and relax a bit.

Early Evening
After skiing you can take a well earned rest in your room or join in on apres, socializing and reminiscing about the great day of skiing. There is wifi internet available for you to catch up on emails with your family and friends and to post a few brag shots on your favorite social media sites.

The bar will be open serving beer, wine & hard-liquor (all available for purchase which can be added to your account for payment at the end of your stay).

Evening
Dinner is served at 7:30 pm providing plenty of time for you to unwind and/or partake in other activities such as ice skating, ice hockey, sleigh rides and cross-country skiing. Dinner consists of 3-course gourmet meals with local foods such as salmon, halibut, lamb, beef, and pork.

Then it's off to bed for a good night's sleep to rejuvenate the body before doing it all again the next day.

Day 7 – Departure Day

On the last day, breakfast is served at 8:00 am, and there's skiing/snowboarding until 1:00 pm (13:00).
  • Lunch at the lodge
  • Check out and settle any additional expenses
  • Departure at the lodge at 3:00 pm (15:00). The van shuttle will bring you back to Smithers (either to the airport or to your accommodation if you want to stay in Smithers for the night).
