Lodge at Snowbird

Lodge at Snowbird

The Lodge at Snowbird offers hotel rooms, studios and condo accommodations. This is the original Snowbird lodge, and whilst it’s been renovated it has retained many of its 70s retro features. The décor is rather funky and reminiscent of a glamorous James Bond movie, whilst the exterior is made of classic Snowbird concrete with wood trimmings.

Not quite as luxurious as the Cliff Lodge, the Lodge at Snowbird is still incredibly comfortable and has amenities such as a swimming pool and hot tub.

Where is the Lodge at Snowbird?

This Snowbird lodging is located slopeside at the Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah, with the rooms and balconies overlooking the mountains and ski slopes. The Lodge at Snowbird is just a few minutes walk to the Snowbird Center and Tram and the slopes.

Very Good Choice

This hotel is sort of a mix of plain and upscale like it can’t quite decide on its personality. It’s a very comfortable hotel with a few trimmings on the side that are reflected in the tariffs. The location was very good and it was very easy to go for the short walk to and from the tram building.

We initially booked into a studio. We loved the décor of the studio with the combination of wood, stonework and classy retro furnishings. However we quickly noticed that there wasn’t a permanent bed in the studio, but just a sofa. The bellboy assured us that the sofa bed had a good thick mattress on it, but we weren’t that keen to sleep on a sofa for the sort of money we were paying. We also didn’t need the big kitchen and asked to “downgrade” to a hotel room, however a hotel room cost a little more because it had two queen beds.

The décor in the hotel room wasn’t as chic as the studio, but delightfully retro nonetheless (and a fraction old and daggy in spots). The room had plenty of space and there was an abundance of hanging room. The views across the slopes were fantastic but we didn’t make the most of the balcony considering the cold weather.

All in all, it was a very good place to stay but not exceptional.
