Steamboat Shopping

Steamboat shopping is not particularly extensive, but some of the shops are a bit quirky and eclectic so it makes for interesting shopping. And if you’re looking for a ski or snowboard shop in Steamboat, you’re definitely in luck.

Steamboat Ski Shops

Most of the Steamboat ski and snowboard shops are located in the Mountain Village at the base of the ski resort.

There are various Steamboat Ski & Sport shops located around the village; the resort owned ski shops. Christy Sports also has multiple locations. The shop in the centre of Gondola Square has a large range of skis, snowboards, boots, apparel and all the accessories you could poke a stick at.

Fleischer Sport (at One Steamboat Place next to the Surefoot shop) offers a retail experience that’s a little different to the other mainstream ski shops. It’s not a particularly large shop, but they pack in some very unique upscale brands and gorgeous clothing and accessories.

Ski Haus is a huge shop located in the area between the ski hill and downtown Steamboat Springs next to the Safeway. In their retail section they have a large range of hardwear including skis, snowboards, boots, poles, and backcountry gear. They also have a massive range of outerwear with diverse brands like Kjus, Mammot, and Arc’teryx.

Steamboat Springs Souvenir Shopping

Downtown Steamboat has an abundance of souvenir shops, especially stores specialising in t-shirts and hoodies. One store we went into didn’t have a changing room which made us feel guilty for buying a souvenir for ourselves….but really what sort of clothes store doesn’t have a changing room??!

General Shopping Steamboat

Steamboat has various interesting shops including fashion boutiques, gift stores, and a wealth of art galleries.

F.M. Light and Sons is an institution of Steamboat Springs. This is a historic store on 9th and Lincoln that is the oldest retail store in Steamboat and a step back in time. You’ll probably notice all the old signs advertising FM Light and Sons on the way into town. Due to the historic nature of the signs they haven’t been pulled down, and the shop continues to sell these advertised items at prices from yesteryear. This is an amazing cowboy shop and definitely the place to go if you’re in the market for a Stetson hat or cowboy boots. The huge range of boots is incredibly impressive including boots with gorgeous patterns and Swarovski crystals. They also sell cowboy shirts and an array of other interesting items.

Cowboys and Indians is another fascinating shop with a large range of artefacts, trinkets and jewellery.

Grocery Shopping

In the Mountain Village there’s a shop selling basic groceries and general sundries. For most supplies you’ll want to head down to Safeway, which is in the area between the ski resort and downtown. They also have a grocery delivery service and you can organise to have groceries delivered to your condo or vacation rental before you arrive.

Nearby is Central Park Liquor (1835 Central Park Plaza, Steamboat Springs), a ginormous liquor store.
