Kamikawa Backcountry Tour

The Kamikawa Backcountry Tour from Rising Sun Guides is ideal for those who mostly like to earn their turns and also get some lift-assist on some days. This is a private bespoke tour, where you can shape the outline of the backcountry tour for your group, and then leave it to the guide to work out the specifics depending on the weather conditions. This tour is best scheduled in February or March when the snowpack is more developed and the weather a fraction more settled. Also the Kurodake Ropeway is typically not open in January.

Located in North Central Hokkaido, the small town of Kamikawa is uniquely well positioned between three mountain passes and just a short 20 minute drive from the ropeway at Mount Kurodake. These 3 mountain passes offer access to remote backcountry ski and snowboard terrain, whilst the Kurodake Ropeway delivers you partway to the alpine of the Daisetsuzan range. Lower elevation alternatives for inclement weather days include Pippu Ski Resort and Kamui Ski Links. Furano and Asahidake are a bit further away but remain within reach if conditions dictate.

Please make a booking request if you have any questions or want to check guide availability.
