Daytripping Sanosaka

Powder hounds!
Sanosaka is a super quiet resort for a one day slide with lots of intermediate cruisers and a bit of steep stuff at the top, un-groomed. Apparently a new powder area is coming in and we are pretty stoked about that considering the super tall pine trees --it should be fun. My friends said that it was easy enough for an intermediate to ski but wasn't boring because they could ski the whole resort.

For me, it was a good day out for a regular ride, don't have to push yourself to enjoy it. The best part was, of course, the great views of the lake. We'd recommend a sunny day for the views and because Sanosaka's probably not worth it on a pow day.

The dogs on the lift and down the run are cool. The park had a couple rollers and kickers. One of the highlights was the apres ski drinks in the chairlift bar. Took the free shuttle home back to our hotel in Happo. You can take it there as well if you know where to get picked up near your resort -- for us it was Lion Cafe in Happo.

The mogul run was full of Japanese professionals and it was fun to watch them for a bit. Looks like there was once a big jump there, but it's not being used anymore.

Getting up and down from the car park is a bit treacherous in ski boots, so we'd recommend wearing normal boots and then changing into your ski boots, leaving your regular boots in a locker near the toilets in the main base. By the way, the main base is all very new and nice, the ticket area and the rental area. There is even a place to chill out and relax downstairs that seems renovated.

Check out the little cafe above the main lift, it had great fews and it was a nice place for a beer. We took some cool photos with dogs both inside and outside the cafe.

So get to Sanosaka and enjoy the views, the dogs, the apres and some great groomers!
