One for the SSSL

18/06/2020
Briefly visited Trafoi during the worst imaginable week of weather in the Val Venosta. High winds, low cloud, driving snow & even moments of unseasonal high temps & r ___ (liquid sunshine) followed us around constantly.

Skiing the hill one morning proved to be a not hugely useful experience as the visibility was utter rubbish & it was r___ing a little (never mention the r___ when at the snow!). Naturally, as soon as we descended, drenched, the cloud lifted enough to get a better sense of the place.

What we saw was enough to put Trafoi on our SSSL (Super Secret Stash List) for powder days. The resort is never going to win accolades for lift infrastructure & amount of piste trails, but its raw, remote feel, spectacular surrounds, fabulous accommodation options & lack of crowds make it one to remember if ever visiting the Val Venosta.

We will come back here one day to get some decent photos & plunder fresh powder with a view of the Ortler peak. We suggest everyone else try it out too. Ski resorts like these offer a uniqueness rare in the world these days.
