Homewood review

An absolute gem of a mountain! When it dumps you can ride freshies for 3-4 days due to the lack of traffic. The views of the lake are unmatched. The lifts are slow and there is not much expert terrain and not much of a terrain park. All that said, its my favorite mountain I've ever ridden.

Amazing day at Homewood

27/02/2022
We have usually gone to the big Tahoe resorts, but I tried Homewood with my 11 yr old son today. We are both intermediate snowboarders. The experience was amazing - we parked literally 100 feet from the lodge/rental area. Regardless - a member of guest services met us, and walked us to kiosk to get lift passes and then to the rental center to get my sons gear. All of that took literally 10 mins and then we were heading to a lift. An amazing experience compared to an ocean of cars, long walks and huge lines at the big resorts. None of the lifts were not crowded, there were not huge groups parked in the middle of runs that we had to navigate around. Lots of small families and definitely a locals feel. The "Old Homewood" lift is anything but, its a fast quad with and we loved it. We were there a few days after they received a foot of fresh snow - it was fantastic. One final though, parking so close to the lifts allowed us to come back to the car for lunch, swap jackets, grab warm food and then get right back on the snow again. No lodge lines, no arduous walk back to the car, etc.

Homewood is friendly, beautiful, and cheap. While it's best for intermediates, there is something for everyone. There is especially good tree skiing!
Like a lot of smaller resorts, the food and lodging is minimal. But who cares with what you get on the mountain? I skied my first eve black diamond here, and I wasn't intimidated, because there was no one else on the run!
The snow, trees, and groomers are all good at Homewood. There is not really any moguls or other challenging terrain. Also, all but one lift is slow. Still, it's a good value, and a good resort. Plus, the views beat even Heavenly.

Great Resort - Not as Small, Neglected, or Poor as you think!

I have visited Homewood over seven times so far and I am astonished by the serene views and excellent trails this resort has to offer. Being a black diamond skier, I have learned skiing mainly in Homewood, and they have the best ski school I have seen.

The resort has a great design - the sloped end right at the parking lot, and the lodge is conveniently located near the middle of the base parking lot. The trails are well groomed, and the powder is the best I have seen in any ski resort. The crowd disperses throughout the entire mountain, so the lift lines are short. The parking lot had a lot of cars but was 80% full, showing that the resort is visited by many and that parking is not a problem.

The prices are unimaginably low compared to the high quality of the resort.

I think the beginner lifts could be better though, because they are a simple surface lift which are very hard to board and use. The other lifts are relatively slow, but one of them has been replaced and now transports riders pretty quickly.

Best of all, the view was stunning. Lake Tahoe gleamed in front of my eyes. I was very pleased with the resort and I recommend that if you are a passionate skier, Homewood is the place for you.

No frills resort where the locals go. Most people on holidays will be skiing at the bigger resorts. Homewood reminds me of A-Basin Co bring your portable grill and fire it up in the muddy car park for lunch.

If you want to avoid the self proclaimed experts from LA, Texas or San Francisco, you will enjoy what Homewood has to offer.
Like most Tahoe resorts get there early on powder days because it won't last long.

Pros:
Short lift lines
Mainly locals not holiday makers
Good variety of terrain
Tree skiing

Cons:
Dining options
Overall size of terrain
Limited parking on busy days, although i see that as more of a good thing because it limits the number of people on the mountain.
