Ski Time

Ski Time

Ski Time is a restaurant, bar, lodge and apartment villas all rolled into one. This establishment captures the essence of Methven friendliness, but unlike some accommodation places in Methven, Ski Time also has style and flair. The external décor uses lots of wood and stone and the attractively inviting décor just begs you to come inside for a drink and a hearty meal in the bar or restaurant.

Where is Ski Time? Ski Time is located in Methven (aka Mt Hutt Village) about 30 minutes drive from the Mt Hutt ski resort. Ski Time is in Racecourse Avenue which is the last street off Mount Hutt Station Rd before the town transforms into paddocks. This means that the gorgeous views of Mt Hutt and the surrounding mountains are uninterrupted (except in the event of inclement weather when Hutt is shrouded in cloud!).

Accommodation
Lodge Accommodation

The Ski Time lodge accommodation is contained within the main building. Rooms are either standard or standard-deluxe, and configurations include twin, double or triple. The standard of accommodation is “middle of the road” with prices well matched to the quality of accommodation, and a light continental breakfast is included in the tariff. The lodge has a very sociable communal lounge-room with a fireplace, pool table and other games. Other facilities include wireless internet access (for a fee), laundry, drying room, and ski and snowboard storage.

Villa Apartment and Studios
The villa apartments at the rear of Ski Time are new. The exteriors are somewhat plain but the interiors have been decked out with very modern and tasteful décor. Configurations include 2 bedroom apartments as well as adjoining studios to provide the flexibility to form a 3 bedroom apartment. The 2-bedroom apartments have two king beds or a super-king bed, an open plan living area and a gorgeous kitchen. In the apartments there are also laundry facilities, a gas fireplace, and a DVD player. Both the apartments and studios have Sky TV, wireless internet access (for a fee) and an ironing board.

Dining and Bar The restaurant and bar is the centrepiece of Ski Time. Everything about the place is inviting: the tasteful décor comprised of stone and wood; the alluring aromas; the fireplaces adorned with interesting paraphernalia; the comfortable leather couches; and the colourful locals that hang out in the chic bar. The intimate bar area is cosy and facilitates mingling so that you can compare skiing and boarding stories. The stories may become more embellished as après transforms into pre-dinner drinks. There’s the option of perching on bar stools or languishing on the leather couches in front of the fireplace. The restaurant at Ski Time is very popular and many people rave about the dining. “The Chop” is often on the menu and is particularly infamous. The menu is a meat lovers’ paradise and the cuts of meat are of high quality. Ski Time restaurant caters well to those with a hearty appetite and the wine list is fabulous. The only limitations are that some of the meals are designed for simple palates and there is very little on offer for non-carnivores. The restaurant is not open for breakfast, so those staying in the villa accommodation need to self-cater or visit a café in town.

Why Stay at Ski Time? Ski Time provides a range of accommodation options for sole travellers, couples or groups. You can either choose the comfort of the lodge or the stylish apartment villas. The Ski Time bar and restaurant is a very popular Methven hang-out. Stay at Ski Time and you’ve got all this at your doorstep.

A Great Place for all Group Sizes & a Top Restaurant

The Powderhounds stayed in one of the studios, so we can personally recommend this form of accommodation.

The first thing that strikes you about any of the studios is the fabulously huge bed that is blissfully comfortable. The bathroom is large and the shower is big enough to dance in (if you so desire!). Even though the term “studio” is used these are more aptly described as a hotel room.

There is no living area and the “kitchenette” consists of only a bar fridge, kettle, toaster and a little bit of crockery. It’s more the mini-kitchenette you’d expect of a hotel room.
