El Colorado Accommodation
At El Colorado there are various ski-in ski-out apartments such as the Colorado Apart Hotel. Even though accommodation is cheaper than at Valle Nevado, it can still be expensive unless you’re travelling with a group, and the standard of accommodation is lower than at Valle Nevado.
Farellones Accommodation
Farellones is a picturesque village particularly just after a snowfall, and it sits on the tree-line which adds to the attractiveness of the village.
Farellones Chile is reasonably small and consists of only several streets. It has a variety of accommodation options including hotels, lodges, a couple of apartment complexes, and cheap hostels. There are no 5 star glitzy hotels or super deluxe apartments; everything is a little more relaxed and low key in Farellones.
Farellones generally provides better value for money than the other Tres Valles villages, and there are more options for those travelling alone or in pairs compared to La Parva and El Colorado where there is predominantly apartment style accommodation.
And unlike
La Parva lodging and the
Valle Nevado hotels, at Farellones there is flexibility regarding the duration and start day of your stay.
A few of the Farellones accommodations are ski-in ski-out, whilst most properties sit below or to the side of the base area, so it requires a short walk to get to the slopes. A couple of the hotels in the lower part of the village provide complimentary shuttle services up to the Farellones ski slopes, whilst most provide transport up to La Parva (4km - 8 mins drive) and El Colorado (3km - 7 mins drive) and Valle Nevado (13km - 20 mins drive).
There are only a limited number of restaurant & nightlife options in Farellones however most accommodations provide breakfast & dinner.
La Parva Accommodation
La Parva has over 1,000 condos and houses within the quaint European style village, many of which are ski-in ski-out or very close to it. Some of these La Parva apartments / condominiums are available for rent. There are no La Parva hotels or lodge style accommodation for guests travelling solo or in pairs, and there are definitely no budget options such as hostels.
Some La Parva apartments are magnificent and have extravagant price tags. The reasonably priced apartments are described by the resort as “luxurious”, but “mediocre” might be a more apt description, and these apartments require guests to provide their own bed linen and towels. Whilst this might be suitable for Santiguans and other Chileans, I imagine there aren’t too many international travellers wanting to pay excess baggage fees to the airlines so they can pack their linen!
Another limitation of staying at La Parva is that there is limited flexibility with respect to the duration and start day of your stay. Apartment bookings are generally just for a week, although occasionally 3 day stays are possible.
All apartments are self-catering and you’ll want to stock up on supplies in Santiago before you arrive. Otherwise there are a handful of La Parva restaurants.
Tres Valles Accommodation
All of the Tres Valley Ski areas are inter-connected by lifts so it is possible to ski all resorts whether you are staying at
Valle Nevado,
La Parva,
El Colorado or
Farellones. It is also possible to stay in
Santiago where you will find some exceptionally good hotels at very reasonable prices however the drive to the resorts. El Colorado (the closest lifts from Santiago) can be around 1 hours (40 km) or even longer in adverse weather conditions.
Las Condes located on the east side of the city would save you 10 - 15 mins each day/each way.
IMPORTANT:
Chilean properties charge a compulsory 19% (IVA) government tax (which is not usually shown in the price). Foreign travelers can be exempt from this tax if they pay in USD (only) which can be cash or credit card depending on what the property accepts and by presenting their travel documents. However some properties only accept cash in the local currency where in that case you will be obligated by law to pay the tax. Please read the fine print for each property before booking.
Santiago Accommodation
Staying in Santiago and commuting to/from the Tres Valles ski areas is an option however your would need your own vehicle if you were planning to do this for several days. There are some day-trip options but this would become quite expensive if you were doing more than one day.
El Colorado (the closest lifts from Santiago) can be around 1 hours (40 km) or even longer in adverse weather conditions. Las Condes located on the east side of the city would save you 10 - 15 mins each day/each way.
Santiago offers a wonderful Chilean cultural experience and has some fabulous accommodation options at very reasonable prices.

Valle Nevado Accommodation
There is no doubt, Valle Nevado offers the best ski-in/ski-out options in the Tres Valles. It must be noted however that the main hotels;
Hotel Valle Nevado,
Hotel Puerta Del Sol &
Hotel Tres Puntas only offer stays of either
7 nights (Friday to Friday),
4 nights (Friday to Tuesday) &
3 nights (Tuesday to Friday) which is a disadvantage for those just wanting a couple of nights or that don't fit those days. The other disadvantage (or advantage depending on how you look at things) is that it is very resorty and all packages include FULL-BOARD and lift tickets.
There are a few independently operated self-cater apartments that have limited availability. If the resort-style accommodation isn't your thing, you should check out
accommodation at Farellones>>
