Kazan Niseko Weeks
Kazan Niseko Weeks run from Sunday to Sunday and ensure you get the most out of the Niseko region which is famed for its abundant and high quality powder. Considering the amazing snow and terrain, it’s no surprise that Niseko is no longer a secret and that’s why local knowledge is key so that you’re not just skiing or riding the “low-hanging fruit” which is often tracked out. From the base in Niseko, the guides have plenty of flexibility to choose the best spot to ski or ride depending on the weather and snow conditions. One obvious option is Niseko, aka the Powder Machine, or there are other ski resorts in the region that also offer impressive powder skiing or riding in the lift-accessed zones.
The Kazan team lives in Hokkaido and have the low-down on the powder stashes and the weather patterns and understanding the implications of the forecasts. Tapping into Kazan’s local knowledge on the restaurants, nightlife and the all-important onsen are also key to getting the most out of your time.

Terrain
The focus of the Niseko weeks is to chase the powder in the lift-accessed zones at Niseko United and other ski resorts in the area. The terrain will be both off-piste and sidecountry ie backcountry that’s mostly accessible using the lifts without touring or splitboarding required. If the group’s up for it, a little boot packing may be required.
If you pull together your own private group, there is the option to include some backcountry ski touring/ splitboarding.
Ability Level
Kazan Niseko Weeks are for advanced to expert powder skiers and snowboarders. You should be confident in powder and riding open bowls and trees with varied spacing. Snowboarders should be competent at holding a good traverse and be able to read the terrain so as to not hold others up during ingress or egress from the terrain.
If you are too slow or inexperienced in powder, you will hold the group back. If you are an intermediate or beginner in powder, if you bring 4 or more people, you can book a private tour for your group.
Equipment
Considering that the terrain will include going outside the resort managed areas, you will be required to have an avalanche safety kit (backpack, shovel, probe, transceiver). If you don’t have your own equipment, this can be arranged and is included in the tour.
Dinners
It’s up to you whether you want to do your own thing in the evening with respective to eating out or whether you want to go out with the guides. Assistance can be provided with restaurant recommendations and bookings.
