Sulden Freeride Camp
Off-piste Freeride Guided-Progression Tour in the Ortler Region of South Tyrol, Italy
The Camp is designed for both beginners and experienced freeriders in the beautiful Italian ski resort with a unique atmosphere called Sulden. Most runs are easily accessed from ski slopes; some require a bit of hiking. You’ll fall in love with this small Italian ski resort as soon as you arrive. A friendly atmosphere and dreamlike terrain that few people know about.
A unique South Tyrolean resort in the Ortler area with beautiful terrain and majestic peaks around, Sulden is connected to legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner. His Messner Mountain Museum Ortles, dedicated to glaciers and ice, adds a unique cultural dimension to the village and makes it more than just a freeride destination.
This a trip for freeride beginners as well as experienced freeriders and anyone in between. The camp is designed for a group of 15 physically fit freeriders and then split into 3 groups with a guide each. You’ll be guided by three coaches, and as always, the focus is on an individual approach, flexibility, and maximum safety. Come as a solo, couple or group for some of the best lift-accessed freeriding in the world.

Program
The camp starts on the afternoon of the first day at the accommodation in Sulden village. Meet the guides & get a briefing about the coming days in the hotel bar. The following five days are spent skiing the best freeride snow & terrain in the valley in your small group of skiers.
During the camp, while riding the best off-piste in the valley with your guides there is also a focus on avalanche awareness, orientation in terrain, safety, and ski technique. 3 guides will each have a group of guests with similar ski ability to allow for the best possible ski experience in terms of fun & progression.
For detailed information on the day-to-day program, see the Itinerary tab.

Ski Ability, Groups & Gear
The camp is for both those new to freeriding, as well as experienced freeriders (and of course anyone in between!). As a minimum you should be a good skier on piste, but no previous freeride experience is necessary.
Participants will be split into 3 groups according to their ski level, with each group having their own guide/coach assigned. Each group will have coaching on the mountain as required, plus there will be the opportunity for evening photo/ video analysis & coaching to help prepare you for the coming day.
Freeride ski rental is included in the tour price. If you have your own freeride skis, bring them if you want. you will need to bring all your other ski gear including boots, poles & helmet.
Avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe along with an avalanche backpack ARE included in the tariff. If you have your own, please bring it.
Getting There & Away
The camp is held at Sulden am Ortler, South Tirol Italy. The village of Sulden is around 168km by road from Innsbruck via the Reschen Pass. Closest major gateway airports are Innsbruck (INN), Munich (MUC) & Milan (MXP). Gateway airports for Solden are a lottery. Nothing is quite convenient, but Innsbruck (INN) is the closest. Munich (MUC) airport is possibly the best option for international visitors from outside the UK & Europe. If renting a car from Milan, make sure it fully winterised, as many of them are not!
Public transport is possible but not simple to Sulden, so travel to the region is probably best by driving your own car or a rental. The accommodation has car-parking nearby, with no reservation needed.
